It's kinda boring, really. It's just him muggin' for the camera. I get why maybe there was a change up in the video, all things considered. But - with Prince it's either a performance video as seen here, or a slapped together montage video. He was never too creative with the video concepts. I think it's where Prince fell short when pitted against someone like MJ or Madonna, his 80s contemporaries. In 1985/6, Madonna was giving us a big story with "Papa Don't Preach", and risque imagery with "Open Your Heart". Prince was giving us blue screen chroma realness in "Raspberry Beret", and throwin' out live concert clips with "Take Me With U", "Anotherloverholenyohead", "and "America". Fun, but ..you know. There is some stuff in the 90s that was fun, but again - storyline vs. performance. "  don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r." |

Thanks rap for posting that, never saw that version. Much more intimate than the released version, and mainstream appeal aside, I think it fits the theme of the song better. It makes it more personal....a man, speaking directly to his woman.
