Thanks!

Well I can now go to bed without worrying cuz Amazon just shipped out the purple rain deluxe cd! I chatted with a representative and they said it would arrive on time and for me not to worry Usually I wouldn't care or mind Amazon being a day late but NOT this time

I always think of Crystal Ball whenever I need to put these things into perspective. The 4cd version was available in the shops for about a month before I received my 5cd set. The internet was still in its infancy so there was no possibility of 'previewing' the tracks beforehand, plus I already had a boot of Kamasutra. That was agony.

Yeah I remember hearing about that whole 5cd set delivery issues. That would've been agony for sure.

.

Amazon says my PR set has shipped, so I too can now sleep (somewhat better).

I think it's Susannah and Wendy we hear the most on WA.
Lisa, she seldom sounds so assured and cocky.
Lisa, prove me wrong!

“Wonderful Ass”

“Wendy and her twin sister, Susannah, are pretty famous for having nice butts. And Prince did have one of the world’s cutest butts. Prince was dating Susannah, and I was with Wendy. It was us being goofy about our girlfriends. I sang co-lead with Prince. It was a happy-go-lucky time.”

You could still be right if it's a completely different recording (I haven't listened to it yet) but it feels like Lisa's talking about the specific version being released on Purple Rain Deluxe. It does feel out of character somewhat, though, you're right.

I stand corrected.

Wait...what? Wonderful Ass is about Vanity! Why is she saying this? Even Susan Rogers acknowledged this. [Edited 6/22/17 6:16am]

Cause songs aren't always about one thing...or they start one place and end in another, or the discussion P had about it with Lisa is different than what Susan Rogers observed.

I think it would be just and right that the thing to finally tear the org apart completely would be a disagreement over who Prince thought had a wonderful ass.

It has been blasting through my speakers for 2 hours now, all of Disc 2 first and now the original album which sounds hot!!!! The sound is killer and everything has new life, the Screams in Beautiful ones and Darling Nikki, it is like being the speaker cabinet Prince was humping on stage.

.

I can confirm it only cost $40, hope you Australians are not having 2 pay more.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Oh M Gee!!! My deluxe edition arrived sometime before 10:15 am. I don't usually check mail before noon...but woke up so excited...went to check my box....wondering if it wasn't there would I stand around waiting? No need to decide...it was there! However, also in the mailbox was Scandalous Sex Suite and Sheila's Romance 1600. BEST DAY EVER!

After hubby got home listened to disc two and enjoyed so much. But after everyone left, I watched the 1985 concert footage disc. WOW. I had seen Prince six weeks earlier (in 1985) but those memories had faded over time. This brought back the memories of being 18 years old and being enthralled by Prince so front and center. What a powerhouse he was! Loved seeing him apparently so happy (love, love, love seeing him smile). Whirling around, in-step with Mark and Wendy, so on top of his game.... Tears start just typing how I felt then/now.

So So Happy Tonight.

I miss you my friend --jj, me, and many others

I think we have already heard "We can Fuck". On the Work/Testament series is a song in the 1983 called "Moral majority" which sounds like the 2nd half of We can funk/We can fuck. There is female backing vocals and Pirnce and a Linn beat and it starts with the "You pour the water on me baby" and you can hear the line "We can fuck one another". It is very muddy though and only a part song, but suspect it is we can fuck.

You were right on top of it...! wink Props for that one...! biggrin

JBhifi have it listed at 47.99 on their site for the super deluxe - it had been showing as $79 as a preview price. It's a great value set.

I pre-ordered my copy on April 28. Amazon said it would be delivered by 8 pm today at 8:07 pm, my order page was updated to say it would be delivered on June 28. What. The. Fuck.

Iwas going to say that it sounds like Amazon is recreating that 1-800-NEW-FUNK experience... but I guess that's not so funny, considering. Sorry, man! I would cancel my order and go pick it up at a box store, if that's an option where you live. Good luck!

They gave me a big discount, which I promptly spent on other music. smile

My order from Amazon arrived today via US postal service. My delivery guy stopped the truck at my mailbox (it's across the street from my house--I just happened to be looking out the window at the time). He pulled away, and I thought--I'll go check the box. But before I did, he stopped the truck about 50 ft away, walked back with the package in his hand, stuck it in the box, then walked back to the car. So he almost failed to deliver it today.

Wouldn't be the first time he messed up. He's also frequently claimed we were not here to receive large packages, and then left attempted delivery forms in the box, even though we're an in-home preschool and therefore ARE HERE every single day when he delivers. And then there was the time he ran off the road, broke our mailbox post off, and then, when I went out to find out why he was standing by his truck looking angry, shoved a handful of mail in my hand and climbed back in the truck and drove off without saying a word. A few weeks later he complained in a note that the replacement pole wasn't steady enough and moved when he was placing mail in it, and that we'd have to fix it within a certain time period or he'd stop delivering. So that was annoying.

BUT...he did put Purple Rain in the box, so he must have realized how important it was. So I guess I'll allow him to live.

Possessed definitely sounds like a remix version to my ears and not the original.

Still damn amazing nonetheless.

My copys came in today ( PR deluxe expanded and PR Picture Disk ) from Amazon. They came well packaged and everything seemed to be in perfect condition. I was surprised last night ( midnight) when Amazon emailed me to let me know the digital version was waiting in my music library. I got to listen to it before I actually received the physical copies, that was really nice of them to offer that service.
I thought the album was great, it was nice to hear the extended versions of some of the songs and the unreleased tracks were also a treat to listen to. I haven't had time to view the DVD yet but I'm excited about looking at it and being reminded of when I went to the PR tour concert as a teen. I'm sure it's also great and I'm glad they gave us something to enjoy again,

So I bought mine at Best Buy yesterday & initially there was no trace of it being out. They didn't even have a display card under their meager new releases section. One of the staff members had to look it up & sure enough they 3 copies & I breathed a sigh of relief.

The lack of advertising for such a seminal album is astonishing across the board. If pubs didnt write their 4 star reviews no one outside of us orgers would know it's out there. I know WB really hated P but damn what a waste of an opportunity here.
