I respectfully, to both Prince and the outraged Org members above, disagree. I remember first reading about the much touted $12,000 check Prince signed to save a black library and thinking, 12K?...from a man who's a multi-millionaire? Then I saw the disbursements from his charity (forgot which one) in the estate thread: 30K here, 50K there...from a man who's a multi-millionaire, and I thought...convenient tax deductions against earned income...not powerful statements of trying to do good. I have read that Prince throughout the years, made many annonymous charitable donations and that's to his credit, but he did no estate planning to ensure his considerable wealth went to charities of his choice instead of the state and federal government. He 'generously' allowed various friends and family members to live in modest homes he still owned. Why not just gift them with the damn deed? Why didn't he ensure that the many, long-term musicans who made real music with him and whom he extolled had comfortable retirement plans and medical coverage? Why didn't he provide more generously for the mother of his lost son so she is not selling t-shirts at her belly dancing classes and can afford to build a standing structure for her pet rescue mission? Respect to Liljojo for giving me the courage to post this.

You sure make it look easy to count and distribute another mans money. $12K, $30K, $50K not powerful statements of trying to do good? It's almost funny, if not so sad that someone thinks that amount of money can't really be of help to people in need. Counting other peoples money is ALWAYS a bad idea.

Let me stop you right here, though. No multi-millionaire drains their entire damned account for charity. Prince also had a damn business to run, and that takes dough. Was he not supposed to pay his staff and shit like that in order to constantly give to evey single effin' charity that exists? He plainly expected these charities to use their money wisely and to actually generate some income of their own. He also seemed to expect people to learn how to do some things on their own -- he wasn't going to be around forever. As for the long-term musicians, sure that would have been nice, but at some point you gotta do this for yourself - hell, most jobs in America don't provide that kind of thing, why would working for Prince make that different? And perhaps those sibs didn't own those houses because they couldn't afford the property takes, which don't go away because you own the house. Nor should he have given Mayte a lifetime alimony or some shit (I may have my raised eyebrows about some of the things that went on, but SERIOUSLY. Nah, there's a limit.). Come on, now, knock that off. That's just silly.

The mods generally don't lock threads because of on-topic posts (of which this is one).

That line is fucking disgusting and wrong on so many levels...

mourning the loss of the damaged babies you put inside her...

That line blaming him for his babies deformities is just sick and wrong. He dropped the ball where Mayte was concerned after that loss. But being a bad or weak husband (after his own possible mental breakdown into religious overzealousness) doesn't mean he deserved what he got 20 years later--anymore than either PRince or Mayte deserved to have 'damaged babies" because both of them happened to curse and not praise God enough (or some such JW bullshit). Its extreme notions like that of Karma (punishing us for our mistakes) that caused PRince to behave in unreasonable ways/unhealthy ways in the first place after Ahmir died. YOu are no better than he was..worse because you didn't experience the loss he did..(a loss that Prince also experienced and probably blamed himself for.)

If Mayte believes that PRince was just as much of a victim of that loss than she was, and if she can forgive him, then maybe even she wouldn't contend that PRince had his death coming to him. You act like Prince was banging his employee the week of Ahmir's death. Mayte had a mother and friends to help comfort her during that period. Was anyone comforting him?

If there is any tie between Prince's bahvior with Mayte after the babies' deaths and his own death, it is his profound inability to face his own vulnerabilities/losses head-on. they both revealed his weakness where human interactions were concerned. He was a victim of his own neurosis/fear (and sadly for a short period, Mayte was a victim of it too.) But there were no ill intentions from God, Prince or any other entity.

TRIGGER WARNING: May God bless and comfort all who mourn.

"there are certain legal and moral obligations that are expected."

Like don't fuck the help in an open way that strips the dignity and identity away from your friend, lover, sister mother/wife as she's on her knees in despair mourning the loss of the damaged babies you put inside her. I don't know if the bible JW's read talks about 'do unto others' but everyone should know you don't kick someone when they're down. A man, let alone a husband, would have helped her to her feet, made sure she could move forward with dignity and security and have been a friend.Flipping her a big white mansion didn't cut it. I'm talking loyalty; putting aside your selfish wants and desires for a minute and acting as though you know right from wrong. The laws of the universe move across a monumental arc so 20 years is pretty much instant karma.

Flash forward to when Prince was in the dark night of his soul: when he needed a friend, he got ' sure boss/bro, I can get that for you.' When he needed help in reclaiming his dignity, either people weren't there for him or even sadder, they weren't even paying enough attention to him to see how much trouble he was in and when he was on his knees, the universe delivered a boot to his neck...and it didn't feel like a dainty 4-inch heel...it felt like the floor of an elevator.

No one here gets out alive and karma is a bitch.

Not to mention how much liquid assets did Prince have just laying about, that didn't get reimbursed into running Paisley et cetera over the years. . We don't have access to all of his expenses over all the years of his life, to make assertions about his intentions. He didn't ask for credit for charitable giving. That is all we know and he could have. Oh and I forgot. Playing for free (after shows and such) with proceeds going towards charities. I just read about a performace of his in Canada at a pub in 2002 where all the proceeds (250 guests paying 30 dollars a piece) went to a children's charity of his. http://ottawacitizen.com/...ersity-pub

Proud of you org fam! Kudos to yourself for your post and I have to say I understand your point of view and you really bring up some great valid points that I NEVER thought of.

As for everyone reading the thread title only and not reading my reason behind the title, read it again. Never said I agreed with my thread title, I just made a thread title that's eye catching. Then once you came in you will see that I want to learn of his support and contributions due to I started a thread (the link I left) and some orgers on here felt Prince only spoke on or gave to people for fame bases only. I was trying to debate that wasn't true but I don't follow Prince enough or didn't follow Prince outside his music so I was not too familiar and was curious to see how you all felt and what information outside of google and the power of the internet that you all have to share that prince did to help and support others outside of music.

Being sarcastic and silly isn't doing nothing but making you look bad when I a person clearly was asking to learn. So if you have nothing but negativity to teach I will ignore your post and hope someone else entertain themselves with that as it's not pertaining to the thread.

Everyone else dropping knowledge and sharing respectful posts lets continue to discuss this. I know today I learned that black women feel Prince didn't like dark skin complexion women and fat women. Also a Prince die-hard said that to me that was caucasian and told me Prince did give but nowhere near as much as other stars who was broker than him. Folks feel Beyonce and Jay-Z has done more along with Bill Gates, Frank Sinatra, Quincy Jones, Oprah, and several others. They even feel Mayte and the revolution band along with Vanity them wasn't treated fairly nor was Andre. A lot of people on here believe Prince wasn't speaking out until his fight with Warner Bros didn't go his way and he wasn't selling like he did at his peak. This is in VIBE magazine, Daily Times, Rolling Stones magazine, Miami Herald newspapers, and also search-able HERE on the org. I've been trying to read and search at my local library but I really can't find much and so I made this thread to LEARN for you all. So again I'm reading pass the sarcastic posts and learning from the individuals who wants to share their knowledge so we can all learn together.

The following below was said here on the org. By ThePanther

Then, the idea of "Prince... mak[ing] money off his own talent". I'm guessing you're American and like the myth of the self-made man if you actually think that is in any way realistic. It's not. Prince was perfectly free in his youth to not sign a record-deal and try making money off his own talent without a record label. Had he done so, he might still be alive today but he'd be working at Wendy's, serving burgers (or maybe he'd have gone to college and would now be a low-level executive at a Minneapolis tire-supplier).

And I will cut and paste folks on here thoughts and opinions on this as my personal time allows. Because you all think I'm just making this up and it's coming from me to degrade and it's not. I want to know why some Prince fans who post on here feel like this but normally post where you will not see it in the other threads because it shocked me that fans feel this way.

Lets get it out in the open and stop fussing and bashing & let's learn from one another. Stop asking the thread to be locked because it's not a disrespectful thread and I didn't say anything degrading. Learn to respectfully disagree without bashing each other and explain why you disagree. How can a person learn and mature if they lock away or runaway from everything they disagree with due to lack of understanding? Prince had this said to him by his FANS while living. I want to know why people feel like this outside of calling them names. I'm not going to go back and forth with bashful posts but if they are funny I might reply with a lol

I want to know you all side and feelings.

Why wouldn't he give them the damn deed? Well, there's no such thing, a transaction would have to occur which would incur the tax burden to be placed on people who had no money to pay them. Having a corp own the properties protects the family or friends from dealing with issues they would otherwise have to shoulder the burden for. He didn't have a will probably because he wasn't expecting to die? Giving charities smaller donations allows him to control how much money he's giving and to see the fruit of what he's supporting come to fruition. For example, why give someone a million dollars if they can't make a difference with 50k? Too many celebs and wealthy have LOST millions supporting dead charities. Charities are a dime a dozen, no reason to throw away a million dollars just because you have a million dollars to give away. Lastly, why not take several million dollars and spread it across dozens of charities and help TONS more people instead of giving big donations to a few. Fully express your question in your head before you attack there are completely logical explanations if you think it through.

EDIT; I glossed over the retirement and medical coverage comment;

Prince has no responsibilty to provide that however I'll indulge. Prince gave song writing credit to Vanity 6, the Time and the Revolution, those individuals are constantly getting money for their performances via an ASCAP or BMI. The individuals that appeared in Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge are SAG members. That membership offers medical coverage and retirement benefits. No one who plays or performs on a record is entitled to life long support.

Why didn't he provide more generously for the mother of his lost son so she is not selling t-shirts at her belly dancing classes and can afford to build a standing structure for her pet rescue mission? Respect to Liljojo for giving me the courage to post this.

I am sorry, I am from Brooklyn NY could you please tell me what exactly has Jay-Z done for Brooklyn? What are the stars that were 'broker' than Prince? Bill Gates, Beyonce, Quincy Jones, Oprah, what have they done for inner city America? Prince helped support a school in Harlem that still exists, A school in Minneapolis, music programs in schools across the country. List what you are claimomg and lets talk about it. Prince funded the very first program to teach black children to code, where was any of the people you listed? Oprah does a TON of work in Africa but not America for reasons she has been very vocal about. Oh and who went to Baltimore and ran a concert and gave all the money to community charities? Beyonce? Jay Z? Bill Gates? Give Bill Gates a ton of credit for his work in building up young program developers but not in the black community. You said something about Prince not liking fat women? See Bonnie Boyer and Rosie Gaines, two BLACK women who were plus sized that Prince promoted and shared the stage with at the height of his popularity. Prince spoke out about issues in the world long before his recording contract dispute. Prince was not a perfect man, he had issues with Andre Cymone, Morris and Morris' mom that goes back to when they were children but in the end, when he died, those men came out and said they were brothers. Prince was there when Andre's mom passed, that speaks to his character more than anything I should be able to tell you. There are two sides to us all fam, but at the end of the day it's the fruit that you bear that matters most. Prince produced good fruit for sure.

Polo1026, I'm trying to find out myself. The only person I can really speak for is Michael Jackson because I followed him beyond music and know several people I will not name due to respect that Michael Jackson helped which to me if MJ would've kept that damn money he kept giving he wouldn't never need another album after Bad Album. But I give the little I have and Michael Jackson and Prince was the two people I always sited outside of my heavenly father beliefs for giving so much to others. I love to give to others because it's a supernatural high I get from it that makes my soul feel good. But I get bashed a lot by Prince fans on the org and in person. Non-Prince fans I truly ignore especially the Eric Clapton, Guns N Roses, Paul McCourtney, and The Eagles fans. But I love giving especially when a person don't know it was me and the thank the heavens with tears of joy. I'm a very emotional soul and will start crying with you happy tears but I don't like crying. It's just a great overwhelming feeling and it's a drug to me. I love making people think, laugh, and feel loved. I'll share one experience from last year with you all.

One night I gave away my savings of $17,000 to 5 cancer children parents on christmas to help with medical costs and have christmas presents and signed it as the head nurse lady. I didn't want the attention or notion of anyone knowing it was me so the heavenly father can get all the glory and the parents feel blessed. One of the kids passed the morning of April 21st 2016 at 6am. His mom said he went to use the bathroom as usual around that time and she and the nurse was talking in the middle of hall as normal. She realized he was taking longer than normal so she knocked on the door and no answer but water still running. She said when she opened the door she saw her bald head child lying there lifeless.

But I'm saying that, to say this, a lot people attack others without knowing what they do in the background. This thread is not to degrade Prince but share and bring to light his good known deeds so other fans can see and know that Prince did his best. Not to just flat out say "He did more than your ass fuk off" but to say look Prince did this and that, Prince also helped this person and the next that had no significant gain for him. You all have that disagree have to understand that the energy you give is the sometimes the energy you will receive because everyone is not going to take the high road. Whining and flooding mods with something we as grown adults and young people should be able to handle respectfully is unfair. Then attack each other like we have a personal hatred beef against each other. Not that I care or am I scared but I got death threats from people on this board for the mods appreciation thread I made, and 3 from this thread I made. But that's not going to stop me from empowering people to express their opinions in a respectful manner regardless of being attacked. Polo1026 thank you for your post and the following below is not towards you personally but something off topic that need to be said towards rude posters on threads across this board.

Forums are made for fans to come discuss and debate things about their favorite artist. All the bashing, the spewwing hate filled sarcasm, owner and moderators bashing due to a disagreement with rules or thread & posts removals, and hateful very distasteful things said towards artists kids and mourning family and friends is not why a forum that cost money to run is for. You don't like a thread and have a respectful reason then express that. But the same attitudes and wrongdoings done on social media is the reason why the world is suffering. It's hard to love and give when people are abusing your heart and soul. And you think a little more care would be going on with a lot of people from time to time being beat down so badly from their posting on here, they think about killing themselves. Feel how you want to about me because I'm the few that don't care because only the heavenly father can judge me, but if you see someone telling you stop before they kill or harm themselves please stop. Have a heart!

The title of your post comes off as an attack on Prince in a Prince fan forum which is sure to attract an argument. You really didn't pose a question or a topic of discussion at all. I do agree that often people are dismissive of comments here that folks do not like or find to be uneducated opinions but if you're looking to ask questions, make it clear that that is what you're doing. I don't feel like this forum is full of people who wouldn't provide what they know or discuss a topic with an open mind. Your point of view as I read it, came off as a snarky attack, a statement of fact not a question or a topic up for debate. Framed as a question, I don't find anything wrong with your post. There's also the aspect of some responding harshly to you because they suspect you to be a troll looking to start an argument and baiting this forum by attacking Prince. Just make things a bit clearer and surely peaceful and respectful discourse would follow. Be Blessed.

Polo1026, understandable and much appreciative of your post. I forgot to add the ? at the end of the thread title. So I will just continue to post and learn because it's not about being repsonded to harshly that bothers. Hell I was attacked for saying the opposite in the Non-Music section so I really don't care I look pass all that. I'm here to learn so next time somebody ask me how did Prince support others and throw that Alexander O'Neal saying up "Prince was black when it was convenient" I can say no he wasn't because he did this and that to help out. I do know he denoted to FAMU which is a struggling HBCU florida college and allowed them to perform with him at the Superbowl. So I know my intentions and I have explained them. So if people respond harshly that's on them. I only respond to harshness that's life threatening or harmful to others in person not online. But I don't mind standing up for people who respectfully explained their opinion and views that get attacked with hatred outside of myself. Even if I disagree with their opinion, they have the right to share their thoughts and opinions respectfully and others have the right to disagree respectfully. As for me being called a troll I don't care and as for posing a question in my opening post I said

"This was said HERE on this board. Think I'm playing then click on the link below

http://prince.org/msg/8/443205

So I want to know what have Prince done in support for everyone and the black community. I tried to explain his words from the 1998 BET interview.

So did Prince support the inner cities, try to help out with the sweatshop (Prince said slavery but I would like to use sweatshop) entertainment industry and give back or was it all for fame and fortune?"

Nothing was in bad taste or hateful towards Prince. Again I forgot my ? in the thread title but still my opening post let everyone know that people on this board is saying the thread title. Again I repeat, I tried to explain but was hit with these questions from people on the org. So that's why the harsh remarks is fine with me and don't bother me. It bothered some of the top educated posters but I know it's something to expect when you go on social media. Stating things peaceful also will not stop harsh attacks as I've seen over the years. People need to be respectful because some of the things said on here a majority wouldn't want said to them and some wouldn't say to the person face to face.

So if anyone wants to share with me and others who want to learn more about Prince supporting others and helping people like Chaka Khan get out of bad contracts please share. I know I have a heard time with black women explaining he did support black women but they have a hard time because besides Cat and the plus size woman on the SOTT tour they claim he never put any black women in his leading roles in movies. I explained how Vanity was supposed to be the leading role lady but Motown grabbed how and she recorded The Last Dragon and some albums.

To anyone I offended also with the thread title I apologize.

It's more than obvious that you haven't been very interested in what has been said about this man for over the past year because your questions have been answered a hundred times. Do you gain some pleasure in horrifying people, I mean dang even to go to describing how a mom told you how she found her child on your thread judging the validity of another person's charity to his fanbase. I ain't saying you have issues but you make me wonder on a serious level.

Be Blessed.

I'll bite.

You really should reread and review your posts before you hit send. You are all over the place and it's hard to understand whether you or serious or not. You have moved from charity to Alexander O'Neal to dark skinned black women to Vanity and on and on...

Just to help you with the original "question", just Google "Prince charity work" and you will get hundreds of links to that type of information.

First, let me say in response I understand the anger as it's the same anger I've shared when people seem to be going after a artist I like and admire. So I haven't said nothing back at all the name calling and just ignored it.

With that being said, I repeatedly posted that I have no ill feelings or am I degrading Prince but trying to learn from other fans why they have such negative views. But I know I won't get a chance to hear them out because a group of you go into attack and you all really don't read everything with a understanding mind because if you don't agree you come in to attack and accuse. Which I understand. Reason behind me apologizing for not being more careful with my Thread title. All the personal threats, name calling, and sarcasm is not going to bother me so it's really a waste of you all time. I'm not going to call you all names or threaten you back. It's just the internet and it is not that serious for me to attack others back personally.

Now as for the horrifying people and describing a mom dead child comment, that mom and I talk and tell the story to thousands here with other moms at cancer, autism, crohn's disease (which I personally have), and lupus charities and foundation awareness functions. I did ask her personally if I could share it online 3 weeks ago with you all and two other forum health boards. And I was going to do a thread bringing more awareness to health issues and prescribed medicine addiction and dangers. So no I didn't share that to get personal attention or horrify people which is why I like to give anonymously because I don't like attention like that. I probably should have typed out a better example so I will take responbility for that part. But I didn't mean to come off that way but was trying to share something with others. And if you must know, yes I do have a disability myself which is crohn's disease that if not treated well can turn into stomach cancer. So if you all want to make fun of me and disability I have go right on head it's not going to bother me as I know time is limited for me and I will probably die like Michael, Gerald Levert, Elvis, Prince, or any other person suffering from chronic pain that take pain killers, prednisone steriods, or any other medicine trying to for relief so I can continue to spread positivity and encourage others until my day come. I'm numb to insults and I am not going to insult anyone back because I don't know you all personally and most of the attacks are not going at me because I did something personally to you all but out of anger or aggravation. I have looked in the search area and the ones that said some of the answers are on here are correct but not all. Again I apologize for any misunderstanding and Morningsong I did not post about that to horrify anyone or get attention because I don't need it. And RDbull blessings to you!

To the mods thank you for not closing this and all the hardwork you all do. I appreciate you all hardwork and fairness. If you want to lock the thread you can. I have learned all that I needed to know and sorry if any person reported this thread to you all.

As for the 3 orgers that sent me personal e-mails talking about killing me and one of you even called me ni66er and copied a picture of a lynched person with my face on it. I pray for you all and I am not going to post the e-mails or the picture but understand this is the hateful world we are living in. No board or social media platform disagreement should make someone that mad that they send stuff like that. It didn't surprise or shock me as it's black Prince orgers who warned me about that and why they left org due to prejudice and racial slurs said on here to them in orgnotes or e-mails. I didn't believe people where the majority is grown adults in the 40's and up age range was talking like that but I was proven wrong by a few. I know it's great orgers on here like luv4u mod, mjcarousel, I think RDbull is a great person to, KingBad, Dasein, Bodhitheblackdog, majority of the moderators, Polo1026, langebleu, my buddies mistermaxxx (R. Kelly private attorney lol ) & timmy84, 2freaky4church1, and a lot of others I didn't name.

This will be my last thread and post because I was told by a person on here that I will copy and paste " You make another post or thread on prince.org I will kill you you cotton picking NIGGER. I am a police officer in your state and will search you up and kill you and any of your love ones like your NIGGER lover mother in the photo below. " I hope you are reading this part and I have sent that e-mail in to the Broward Sheriff department and I hope they find you. The Sheriff let me know that Internal Affairs is also investigating, so I hope you see this and they find you. So I am not posting or making anymore threads on here as I don't feel comfortable and now have to check on my love ones. I know it's going to be some people who do the thank goodness posts and not understand or care that someone have threaten to kill my mom and me claiming to be a police officer in Florida. But that's not going to bother none and I will continue to check on my love ones until the person is found. I understand having disagreements and sarcasm but threatening and making racial slurs over a thread or post somebody made that you didn't like shouldn't be grounds for killing someone. If anyone one praise that kind of attitude and action you hate yourself and need prayer.
