It jumped to #1 on Amazon.
Looks like there was no need to promote it after all.

?? Just checked it is not #1 at least in the U.S. AMAZON... It's not even in the Top 40...

While it lasts... Unless each one of us gets a different page content.

The contents of the new issue of Mojo have been announced: no Prince. It's still possible there's a review inside, but considering it isn't mentioned on that page...

It's puzzling. Considering the Billboard 200, there is a fair bunch of classic albums (Rumours, Nevermind, Simon & Garfunkel greatest hits, as well as Tom Petty, and 3 or 4 Beatles albums), so it means there's a market.

Mojo. I swear they only have about six acts they constantly rotate on the covers

.

Because those sell. They've explained this several times: put a Beatle on the cover and it sells like hotcakes.

The recent Revolution interviews are a kind of indirect promotion for PR.

PR Deluxe is coming out a little too soon after the first transcendence anniversary.
It looks like WB is getting what they dread: media saturation.

5 stars on Allmusic's weekly newsletter.

So it looks like entirely a Rhino project, so I guess we should go easy on them.
If Warner executives are too dumb to play a full catalogue-oriented strategy (look at the oldies on the Billboard's 200), it's certainly not Rhino's fault.

Please post a pic! EDIT: Nevermind. For whatever reason, Firefox on Mac wouldn't render this.

I suppose the billboard in the shot is actually a video?
There's no copy, no logo.
If it's static, that's some ballsy teaser (well, it's sort of a given, but...).
I'm sure some millenials will be hypnotized and discover Prince through this... PR compilation (che "Deluxe"?). And that's a good thing. Is it? Given the quality?

Why? When's the last time Paul or Ringo have really done something cover worthy? lol

Ah ah. A while ago. But not that much, I'll have you say.
Chaos and Creation In The Backyard is a masterpiece, Memory Almost Full is friggin' good.
Stephen Thomas Erlewine thinks the last good one is "New", from 2013. Not bad for a man well over his sixty-fourth birthday.

That's irrelevant. The important thing is: a Beatle sells issues. Same for Pink Floyd.

.

I recall entering the IMS in Antwerp on a Friday about fifteen years ago, and noticing a huuuge pile of issues of Mojo; they'd just received the latest issue. I expressed my astonishment to the clerk that they'd sell all of those, and he replied "This month it's Pink Floyd on the cover; if you return late tomorrow afternoon chances are we're all out." I returned the next day, and indeed: they were down to a handful of issues.

.

Years ago there was a great mag called The Word -- https://en.wikipedia.org/...(magazine) -- and when they published their 100th issue they had a multi-page spread showing all of their covers plus a little comment. Only two of those covers mentioned exceptionally low sales figures: the one featuring Dido, and the one featuring Prince.

.

And the editors don't like this BTW. They'd much rather be more adventurous. They also point out that covers featuring non-white artists usually sell the worst in significant numbers.

That's BS because there were, and still are, tons of covers with Jimi Hendrix and MJ in those magazines

What a racist self fulfilling prophecy.
