No Promotion For PR Deluxe?

Whats the deal?? Why no promotion at all for the upcoming PR Deluxe that will be relesed in a few weeks. I mean literally no promotion at all besides the new music site that was launched a month ago where you can buy all the WB stuff and the new remastered 7" and 12" singles...

Who is handling this, WB? Prince estate? Both?? What happens if it fails to sell, what is the future for other re releases and deluxe remasterings of his golden age 80's catalouge...

If they won't promote it... What't the point of releasing it... Surely it's not for Bart or Luv4u... lol

I mean they are expecting to make money off it... Look at the re releases for MJ and The Beatles... Those sold millions and millions...

I honestly thought there'd be some promotion for it today. Quite strange.

Strange indeed... If this fails commerciall wise.. It will cast an undoubtful shadow for future remastered deluxe editions... I mean PR is one of the biggest albums in Pop Music Culture history and nobody besides us fans know or care about it...

And whoever saying they saw a small ad on Yahoo... Please... Even by 90's standards that would be little promotion...

All the MJ remastered deluxe editions sold millions each... I don't know why there is no push for promotion and we are less than 3 weeks out now.

I'm sure people search for Prince on iTunes all the time. When they do now, they'll see this pop up.

It's a reissue. How much promotion do you expect? Did you see any for the Sgt Pepper reissue a few weeks ago?

You keep making this point without offering any explanation. What makes you think the two relate at all?

It's mind-blowing. Prince was the #1 best-selling
album artist in 2016. Purple Rain is one of the biggest albums ever - an album on par with Born In The USA and The Joshua Tree. Prince's legend has only increased since his passing. And two weeks out there is no promotion...he'll, even less promotion than Deliverance, a one man effort??!!!

Does anyone really work at Warner Bros. Music anymore?

Press is not promotion. And that raises another point - perhaps they're waiting before the album is out to kick in with ad spend?

Exactly... I'm glad someone else is confused about this... This is the most commercial and "important" release in his whole discography... But there is no effort in promoting... So when the sales come out and it is way below par on his most popular album... Those fantasy deluxe edition track lists y'all keep making for SOTT, CONTROVERSY, 1999... You might as well dream a big dream, cuz that ain't gonna happen. lol

Deluxe sets are in no need for immediate top slot showings in the carts/charts. They are slow burners for the most part so to speak. Low to consistent sellers is the norm except in Beatles catagory.

Maybe that's true... But that means there should be NO promotion what so ever?? On the FIRST, and most important release since Prince's passing??

Disagree here... If they are promoting it or mentioning it, or discussing it on the #1 late night talk show... That is indeed promotion.

Exactly this. Those folks who are expecting/hoping for a #1 are deluding themselves and clearly know NOTHING about the industry.

Colbert is #1 in the ratings, actually, but regardless - the goal is the same, but press and promo fall in two different categories. Prince isn't here to do press, so the only option is promo/advertising, unless they want engage Wendy or someone to do the rounds.

But that's just it - this category of product doesn't face the same level of expectation as a new album.

If this was promoted right it could totally top the charts. It doesn't take a lot of sales to top the charts anymore, especially with young people not buying music. Look at all the promotion Spotify did when Prince's music came to streaming services. You can't tell me that Spotify has a bigger marketing budget than Warner Bros.

So I guess there should be promotion at all for PR DELUXE. No need for promotion at all, lets just put it out there. Cool. cool

Many sales are from the casual listener. Thats what pushes many artists to the millions etc. These deluxe sets are not for the casual listener nor does the casual listener really give a damn. Its all relative.

Relax everyone. No worry. We will all be able to complain and bitch about the release and future ones regardless of the promotion strategies used.
