I'm amazed at how he knew this! What do you think?

Whenever I see Prince talk on stage, in some song lyrics and during interviews, I am amazed at how he spoke before his time.

The acceptance speech he gives below is an example of the advice he gives to us about the internet. Somehow he knew most of would be consumed with the internet before it happened.

That was what, 1999?
By then, lots of us had been online or using computers on a regular basis for 10-15 years. Really. What you have on your phone now is just a different version off the Unix-based usenet, email and file structures AND the early online services like Prodigy and AOL that hasn't yet linked users to the internet.
He was an early adopter of computer communications. He sings about a computer in PR and even compares himself to one in My Computer. He wasn't prescient. He had already been there, done that and saw it going on.
.
We had weekly chats with him on Prodigy (I was a board leader but not in that area, big sigh).
.
If you didn't have a home computer or used one at work in the late 1980s, you might think this is all new stuff?
.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

Wow

I had no idea.

Friends who were teachers used Compuserve or Prodigy, but I didn't start using the Internet until AOL. That damned wonky/expensive dialup.

And it was awhile until I figured out about forums, then found the P forum.

I was intridued to UseNet way later, like 1996/97 maybe? And that wasn't for music.

Up until then I was mostly chatting aimlessly and trading wav files. Lol

I wish I had known about P being online way back then. Wasted time.

sad
