yes i think he was in the "occult" at one point. No judgment here, but I bought an album that was supposedly "christian" from the "christian" record label that dez dickerson was in charge of. i had a blatant supernatural occurences in my home that began on the album cover in a very obvious sublminal graphc on that cover. With black writing. It ended up a full blown attack on my home. I never really realized that link to dez dickerson till last year when I started to study up on prince when he died, and this happened 30 years ago. i've looked for the occultic connection and tried to figure out what in the world happened ever since. THE single most traumatizing incident of my life, and i've been robbed at gunpoint and everything. I think I found the link right here at prince and his subliminal experimentation and occultic, satanic connections in the early years. I know I NEVER would listen to prince cause I was a Christian and never listened till a year ago. this is when i put two and two together. that's my belief about the subject, non provable. I was traumatized enough that i ended up in the hospital and so did the other family member who saw the same stuff.

What the fuck happened? eek I am dying to know...

so when you say, he sat around with that 1999 cover and said, ha...that will really scare them etc, yeah, that's exactly what i think he did. i think he tried to curse people in the early years...it's opinion. thats where he got the fame money and glory from folks...satan. And it said something backwards and forwards. And came out on Halloween. Pity, you think you are buying something "christian". And I don't think God thought the subliminal on darling niki was funny. AT ALL.

what writing on dirty mind? you mean the content of the lyrics or the fonts of some letters?

this talk reminds me of a time I met this guy at the store I worked at. He shows up in some kind of communist, russian regalia, i asked him about it because at the time I was just studying history and russia was one of the things I was studying. we got to talking and he was a very knowledgable cat , nothing particularly sinister or too out of the ordinary other than his communist suit. Anyway, after I met him, i recalled that a book I read said that Marx was a satanist, i freaked and the next time dude came to the store I said "I heard Marx was a devil worshipper" he said "oh no, marx was a good guy" I said "I can't have nothing to do with no devil" dude left, came back a few days later with an upside down cross on his neck, and no communist jacket and i could see cuts all over his arms. it was wierd boy.

The only story I have is me playing the ending part of the Prince song "Temptation" around my uber religious mom, when I was a kid. She not only made me turn the song off, she banned me from playing Prince songs in the house. I should had known better. She was the same person who made me (via an belt in her hand) destroy all of my ET The Extra Terresial and Return of the Jedi cards. I had the entire collection of each. I cringe when I think about how much those things are worth now. sad

geez, that stuff is pretty harmless, wonder why she made you destroy them. the preacher's family burnt every record i had, all the prince records, i had lots of led zeppelin too they had a field day, i had a great little collection. I was at work i think when they did it, they also found a playboy hidden in one of the records and of course they loved that shit. I imagine they laughed about it years later, i know i did. I've basically forgiven them but at that time that was a hard thing to deal with, i was a budding musician and those were my heroes. Whatever Prince's faults were, he made sure that they obscured his better side for sure. People just thought he was evil. I remember when i was 17, i was in a guitar store, some nut was in their talking about different musicians and he said they were all devil worshippers, i asked about stevie wonder and he said stevie was ok, then Prince and he said, just like jerry lee did to Elvis "prince is the devil". I was a kid and that really bothered me. I didn't like nobody badmouthing prince. I still remember a super negative article, think it was in Creem which just made mincemeat out of Prince in every facet of his art, i wish i could find it now.

Well....they kind of had cause to burn those Zepplin albums. Just sayin

Zep was into some shit but damn they were great, it's a non issue anymore, if i'd known then that any song you want to hear would be available for free whenever you wanted to hear it in the future i wouldn't much have cared. And....like i told those idiots, most of my collection wasn't devil worshippers it was a wide variety of things, so they burnt buddy holly, they burnt my classical albums, they burnt my comedy albums.

that freaking drippy black writing. on the back cover i guess it was. i don't own it. i just saw it on the internet. i was like well looky there I think I've seen THAT somewhere before....And to the person who said they want to know what happened...no, you don't. It's not pleasant. Sorry...I don't often discuss this publicly, but I gotta tell ya, last year was a bit of a revelation when I started listening to prince. And seeing ....look...I was around back in the 80's and 90's and in the 80's when he first came out. I never listened then cause I got a bad vibe, and I never listened after that either. And how I totally missed the dez dickerson connection of that album I bought I will never know. But I did for 30 years. 1991 to be exact...is when I bought it and it was an album that came out on the "christian" label that dez dickerson helped to run. Too bad Prince ain't around to ask...were you in the "occult"? it's all a shame anyways...Probably the people he worked with including dez dickerson know the truth, but they won't ever say. I'm not supposed to judge people, so this isn't a judgment of people per se, it's just that I see what I saw then, and I can't ignore the obvious. I don't know how I missed the connection. Ok, drop this subject. Yes, I think Prince was in the occult and maybe people he worked with as well. How long that went on is not mine to know...or my business. Next....

For sure Prince was turned out by occultist. Haven't y'all heard Others Here With Us?

I'm reluctant to speak on my theories concerning the subject, but Prince seemed to a purveyor of Pan worship. He may or may not have been aware of this but it seems rather obvious to me. Go do your own research and come up with your own conclustions.

And for naysayers, for what it's worth Prince appeared to struggle with this immensely.

on the purple rain album he has two parts that are backwards the end of darlin nikki and a section of baby im a star, its called back masking. A lot of heavy metal acts were doing this back masking thing in their songs. Prince probably wanted that sound for his album to show people he could do it too while making a pop album. It had nothing to do with the occult but more to do with musicianship.

I always wondered how he learned to do it, there were a couple spots on the album where he had backwards voices, wendy and lisa did some on baby I'm a star. That has to be hard to make something make sense backwards and forwards. Let's face it, prince was so mysterious in that era, he became less mysterious as time went by, but mystery usually associates itself with evil in some way just out of human nature.

Baby im a star, the backwards section maybe Apollonia saying:"So like fuck them man, what do they know? All their tastes in their mouth. Really, what the fcuk do they know? Cmon baby lets go."

Darling nikki is;"Hello. How r u?Im fine.Cos I know that the Lord is coming, coming soon.ha ha ha ha ha ha."

Irrisistible bitch."It may not happen overnight, but it will happen"

Girl.B side to America. Prince is telling the girl how much he likes her. But when played backward the girl is telling Prince how much she likes him.

I think Prince kept up his mystique to enitce people more, without any mystery behind the man how would one keep wanting to know more. What im saying is if he told us evrything right away who would have found him interesting.

Prince said it himself, when he was younger he pushed things to the limits just to go there. He probably regretted some things he did.
I think he learned from it and changed.
He did not need to use sex and taboo subjects in his music and performances.
I think that God may have guided Prince in his career. The music he wrote and sang as he matured was more about Christian and spirituality and less about sex and taboo subjects

Prince liked to push things to the limits when he was younger.
As he got older he sang more about Christianity and Spirituality.
He grew and changed and so did his music and performances.
I do not believe that he dabbled in the occult much.

in those days, i don't think no jw's would have been able to get him to do that. later on, very well could have and did have an effect.

I didn't read the whole thread but imo, Prince was a sinner like everyone else, but never a satanist. His lyrics were pro God, against devil. Someone who worked with Prince in the 90's told me he had powers but I don't even believe that would make him like evil. Prince's brain seemed to be more advanced. He was touched by an angel at 7 so maybe he could do some weird things most people can't.

That label is meant to be derogatory and is used against anyone who actually says "The Emporer has no clothes". As for this "occult" thing - it's all been conjecture to try to explain away his "sudden" rise and hold over the music industry. Can't let it be what it actually was: drive, determination, talent, vision (and that included a host of other people as well). The source of the "he felt God was punishing him with the death of our child" is, at best, highly questionable. P NEVER denouced God in any way, shape or form but instead always sang the praises of the God he understood. Like everyone else, his spiritual journey was his own and personal even though he shared bits and pieces of it.

Prince was just talking about ghost right? There are plenty of ghost around. You seem them from your side vision. Some people can see and some can't. It's no big deal most the time. My child can see them but I try to convince my child that his eyes are just playing tricks on him because he spends to much time on his tablet.

It was just a paying gig. Paul McCarthney was at that party and so was Chris Rock. Nothing more and nothing less. In the 2000's he did a private gig in Houston for some oil barron. What is the big deal.
