Saying he is not a fan of Prince's music (but a fan of him as a musician) whilst speaking at a conference about Prince??? (BTW, how can you be a fan of the musician but not his recorded music? What the fvck does that even mean?)

His collaborators don't have to worship the ground Prince walks on or think highly of his albums, but if they don't like at least his music, they shouldn't speak at conferences about him. Appreciating his music (on record) should be a prerequisite for even speaking at this conference.)

He wasn't speaking at the conference. He was interviewed by the conference organisers ahead of the conference.

Secondly, he simply says he "was never a huge fan of Prince's music".

He doesn't say that he doesn't like his music, nor that he doesn't appreciate his music.

Listen to the Prince podcast interview that is 2 hours long and check out his ignorant ass on the Reelz network.

In the podcast interview, for example, he explains very clearly and honestly that he came to work with Prince with little knowledge of Prince's back catalogue prior to working with him, but he could listen to 'Little Red Corvette' and appreciate the musicianship, for example. He also identifies songs by Prince that he liked and enjoyed working on.

I don't hear anything which warrants such an insult.

He is a snob. Plain and simple.

I do not remember Prince stating anything snobby in print and I have no idea what he stated in private. All I can do is go by the crap coming out of Eric's mouth.

Also the fact that he even bothered to be on the Reelz network discussing this artist he did not really care for or have the time to be bothered with tells me a lot of about him and his motives.

No one outside of Prince' s fans gives a rat's ass about Eric Leeds and I suspect that this factoid sticks in his craw to this day. He is known because of Prince and only because of Prince.

I do not even think Eric is active on the jazz scence outside of Minneapolis and if that makes him happy fine but you do not have to pull someone down to build yourself up.

I wonder whether people actually read what's written and actually listen to what is said or simply see and hear what they want to be there.

Prince and Eric had an incredible synergy that I'm thankful for to this day. It was about the muscianship between the two of them, never the theatre. The Prince world would be a better place if people went back and listened to the music for a change.

He's such a petulant prick. Prince never sacked him, so he must also be two faced

Eric Leeds was so a "petulant prick" than Prince works with him from 1984 to 2003. More or less 20 years. And he works with Eric Leeds in two of most "open" project as Madhouse and N.E.W.S.

I think Prince and Leeds spent more hours playing together in their life, than I masturbating in mine.

But oblivious there are people in Prince.org so deep inside the Prince's life than can make more reliable assumptions about the artistic relationship between Prince and Leeds.

Here is an article entitled "Kind Of Purple: Jazz Musicians On Prince" published by All About Jazz. In it, several jazz musicians praise Prince.

Excellent article. Most "real" musicians, in any genre, are able to get past form and respect Prince's craft, skill and genius.

It would be interesting to hear Miles Davis's opinion of Eric Leeds.

Once again we are taking things from Eric comments particular on the Mike Dean podcast. He is the one who actually said he did not care for the music and came off as annoyed about the amount of time he has to spend in the studio (WTF) eek

No he's not.
I don't argue with people about my opinions. Scram. I said what I said.
