So, getting back on track, how does Roadhouse Garden sound? Is it the same version that leaked as a mono 128kbps mp3 in September last year? If so were people correct in saying that that fact that the previous leak was a mono fold down meant that some instrumentation had been erased from it and that the track wasn't as spartan as that leak made out?

I could of course wait until 11pm tonight to have these questions answered, but damnit I want to know now! razz

Electric Intercourse didn't go on UK iTunes till 12 - just to warn you in case you end up waiting up till midnight like I did last time and getting about 4 hours sleep before work 😩

Actually, you can't. You have to register - with a valid address and credit card - for whatever country you select. So your douchebaggery was for naught.

Shit those are tough hours, sorry to hear that. Tbh I'm currently unemployed though so it's all good for me, I can stay up as long as I want, woo!

On the downside however I am currently unemployed and therefore have no money neutral

Listened to Our Destiny on the Aussie iTunes. It sounds the same as the leaked version.

Nothing, for me, will ever top Prince's live performance of Our Destiny and Roadhouse Garden from his 1984 b'day...

Have had to listen very quietly as I am staying at a friend's place tonight, but "Roadhouse Garden" at least has the same sort of sweetness to it that the version which leaked last year has. Could very well be the same version.

Very nice surprise all the same to get this early!

Streaming on Apple Music.
Sound is excellent.
Lisa on OD - great, as I'm guessing this was the finished product prince wanted released.
Prince on RG - great, same as leak from a while back.
I was hoping the next track avail would be TDE - oh well😜

I have to say that it is a very smart strategy on WB's part to release these tracks one at a time ahead of the album launch. You'd better believe I'm buying them in a cold sweat with a quickness even though I am going to buy the expanded edition on CD.

If you are listening, WB, I'll put my request in for "Possessed" on May 26th. razz

That's weird, I just scroll to the bottom and click on the flag symbol in the lower right corner, then can browse the other regions stores. I'm using iTunes on Mac in case that makes a difference and it doesn't work like that on PC.

Very disappointed to hear Lisa is on lead vocals.

Why? I think we can assume that this was always how he intended it. Just like Wendy singing I Wonder U, Lisa sings lead on Our Destiny.

sounds exactly like that to me, the stereo version of these tracks. i can hear wendy and lisa
on backing vocals on roadhouse garden and perhaps a few more ad libs by prince near the
end of the song. not a huge difference, but it breathes a bit more.

I understand the nicer way to say "I wish Prince was on lead" is the purpose here, but we also have to remember Prince oversaw this project, and it's how it was intended back then. We do have that demo that leaked at the first of the year if you want Prince on vocals. It keeps the integrity to have Lisa on it. Prince was in that "let Wendy & Lisa finish it" mode around that time. He was so busy with Under The Cherry Moon that to know his vision and what he allowed anyone else to do is historically important.

Overall though, to have these tracks at all is the ultimate prize.

PS There is a MEGA download link out there. The quality is okay. It was "mastered for iTunes" so the quality is a bit different than the CD is going to be, to me. (Granted, it's a 1985 song recorded with 1985 technology.) Get it while the gettin' it hot.

Thank you for the description. Just bought it and giving it a listen now. The material isn't nearly as exciting as the studio Electric Intercourse to me but I'm glad it's getting released.

I got it now in the UK and I agree, not even close to EI, but still amazing great to have and definitely better than what leaked previoulsy. Really looking forward to the rest now, is it really still six weeks away?!

It wasn't a fold-down, it was just the left channel.

True, but prince also wanted St Paul Peterson to sing Nothing Compares 2 U but wouldn't 100% of people on this board rather hear Prince's version?
