Sometimes you want 3 michelin stars and sometimes you want a greasy kebab with sweaty lettuce and hot sauce.

When I bought it back at the time I fucking hated it. Spent years on my shelf until I felt in love with Wasted Kisses and Freaks on this side.

With Prince is always like that, you go back to his discography and rediscover a gem. Guess I will hear it again and see what else do I find.

Same here basically. My shuffle flipped to the title track once years back when I was driving and it got me. Now I love he whole album. Come On kills me every time.

I think the art work is poor, leaving a bad impression when in fact there is some real quality tracks within.

Exactly.

Sometimes you want to fuck a supermodel and sometimes you want a sweaty fat homeless guy with additional folds.

Yeah... Until the kebab is so greasy and the lettuce so sweaty that it's no longer fit for consumption and you decide to not visit this reastaurant any more until it starts serving, at least, 1 star michelin dishes again...

I'm mixing up lyrics but...

I know you got a young man, you don't care about me

He's darker than quicksand...and taller than a tree.

What you need is some real loving

Stead these young as fools

I got the butter for your muffin

just need the key to your room.

I love that 'Come On' shit!

Much love for 'The One' and 'Wasted Kisses', too.

Never understood the negativity for this album! It's a fun party album. Love New Power Soul, The One and Hell I think I like all 'cept for Push it up/ Feaks on this side.

Wish it was on vinyl though

I've been playing this album a lot lately. I didn't like it/care for it at first. But it has some GREAT songs, of course there are some bland ones too. But i still give it a solid 7/10.

Laydown

New power soul maybe the funkiest album of the 90s. I think its basically a party record, made for a prince obsessed mf like myself who are deep into funk music as a art form, not just for dancing pleasure. An album where he used the npg as actual collaborators and not just a band name on his album like The Time. The One is the song I listen to the least. My favourite is Wasted Kisses. Aside from those two tracks its total funk. Funk music is what Prince was all about.Love new power soul.

I also do not like this album can't stand Larry Graham I didn't like the come album or around the world in a day and it took a long time for those to grow on me. The whole Larry / Chaka thing killed his great music time frame and the concerts I passed on when they came to my area.

My first Prince album, so it will always have a soft spot. Immediately liked 'Untill U're In My Arms Again', 'When U Love Somebody' and 'The One'. Two years later I became a massive fan and learned to appreciate the rest of the album 2. Nice to see it's getting some recognition these last years. Rainbow Children or Lovesexy it ain't, but it flows nicely, unlike something like Rave.

Dynamite album I've played so much it's nearly worn out. First 3 songs are a delight.

NPS suuuuucks. Aside from a few decent songs it's a sloppy shitshow. The music sucks. The production sucks. The lyrics suck. Larry sucks. The artwork sucks. Those empty tracks taking up space before Wasted Kisses suck. NPS sucks ass.

Yet, it's still a better listen than Plectrumelectrum.

I have always like that album, from Day 1, and there's a whole lot of Prince albums that I don't care for. I agree that it's just solidly enjoyable and funky.
