All of sudden, this woman farther back in the line screamed, "I LOVE YOU, PRIIIIIINCE."

Prince:

There you go. biggrin

Like many of Prince's outfits, it's something only he could wear. lol

Lol, nice pic! Good thing he wasn't looking at you while you took it, or else that might've been a sneer on his face instead of a smile!

Yeah, I knew I was taking a major rish taking his pic, but I figure it's not everyday a person gets an chance. So I went for it. Strange thing, I took 5 pics but only one turned out right. The outhers were distorted. True story.

Wow, lucky you and great that it worked out. Thanks for sharing.

I just thought about the only "encounter" I might have had with Prince and it wasn't actually physical. It was here on the org. I had a username before this one where I had a link to my website and music, I forget what I was even talking about on that thread but I remember it was laudatory and positive. Anyway, at that time, I always checked my webtraffic the, each day. I never did get much but the day after that post, I noticed a visit from chanhassen minnesota, I also noticed that the only song that got any play was a cover of Little Red Corvette. Being negative, I just assumed it was a staffer who might tell me to cease and desist. they never did, anyway, now I actually think it was Prince.

Could be he certainly found musician via the internet and actually had some come for auditions.

He complained in interviews about the lack of music education in the schools and how it was to find musicians that knew how to improvise.

He might have been checking you out biggrin

On May 28, 2006, Prince was playing at the Empire Ballroom in Vegas. (He was scoping things out for his later residency and play shows on May 27 and 28.) It was my birthday, so I hopped on a plane that morning and headed out for the show that night.

Some of my friends held a spot in line for me, so I beat it over to the Empire as soon as I checked into my hotel and we waited and waited and waited. At one point, we looked over and there was Prince, halfway out the stage door, taking our picture.

We yelled, "Hey! No pictures! mad " - teasing him about his own "no pictures rule." He laughed and put the camera down - and started chatting with us. (We were supposed to be let in for a soundcheck, but it was very late. He told us that a piece of equipment had malfunctioned and they were trying to track down a replacement.) All of sudden, this woman farther back in the line screamed, "I LOVE YOU, PRIIIIIINCE." Prince made exactly this face --> eek and ran into the building.

That woman is lucky the rest of us didn't whup her ass for making him leave.

lol lol lol lol omg I can see him doing that! ...thinks of that poor woman in that vid that is on youtube that chased him up his own piano...shudders....Poor Princey!

I now think it was him, it still could have been a staffer though. I do know that my web traffic showed a visit linked from the org to my site and it was a visit from chanhassen. My site had me paranoid for a bit because although it was never popular, i had frequent visits from washington dc and I think they were like govt. places. If you heard my music you'd know why, and I also had a phoney fbi profile on my site it was just a humour thing but I think i got a couple of unwanted eyes watching me.

knowing he usually favored working with women, i never expected to hear from him and i have to admit that although i'm never happy with my own work, i wished that little red corvette would have been better for him, i'm not a genius though and I never play perfectly.

wonderful, never will be another. I couldn't see elvis or michael leaving a jersey somewhere. Only Prince did those kinds of quirky things.

I googled moneyapolis Prince party and didn't find anything. . . What kind of party was this? Just curious!

This was about almost 15 years ago when Holy River Chat was still going on.

We started off at The Front over SE Minneapolis. Then the parties got changed to First Avenue VIP area. Afer a few years of that it stopped, buit now they basically have turned into Lenka Prince parties. DJ Lenka was our host and it was private and kinda intimate. We had another DJ before her and he had to go. Someone told us Prince didnt like the name of our fan group and it was changed as well to Me N U Apolis 2045 *thanks boo*. I still have some memorabilia but defineitley have all the same Prince circle. http://prince.org/msg/2/41772?pr

Butterscotch

I drove to Columbus, Ohio to meet up with a friend to attend a Prince concert. After the concert, an after show was scheduled. However, once we arrived we noticed no instruments were set up for a performance. Needless to say, we were all pretty bummed that Prince would not be performing. Anyway, we all patiently waited to see if he would at least show up. Eventually he did. I was standing front row to the left of the stage. He came out to address the crowd thanking everyone for showing up. As he was talking, (I couldn't help myself) I reached up and began to touch the cuff of his sleeve. Lol!! He just continued to talk to the crowd but, he was giving me that peripheral side eye look at the same time! πŸ˜‚

lol That side eye! My very first concert was in 1998 and we had a time getting to the concert. But it was general admission and we managed to get there early enough to be right in front of the stage. We had stopped off at a gas station and I saw this clown like thing with one of the porcelain faces, had purple hair, and it was only about 4 inches tall. For some reason, I saw that thing and had to buy it, with the intention of giving it to him somehow. Don't know why, don't ask. lol I was much younger then is my excuse. But he saw that in my hand (right in front of the stage remember) and he kept giving me the side eye like he was afraid I was going to throw that thing at him. I still have it. Never did give it to him.

It's interesting though, he played a lot of songs from New Power Soul that concert, if I recall correctly, and for whatever reason, during one of the songs, it made me think of the Charleston (the dance) so I did the Charleston and he did a double take, which I got tickled at, like I had caught him by surprise somehow. And then I came full circle, because at the last concert in Atlanta, he said something like, "Someone needs to be doing the Charleston up in here." Or something like that. I thought what an odd coincidence that was.

As I was sharing with folks on another thread; way, way back in time I used to go and listen outside of the St. Louis Park warehouse that Prince, Morris, etc., used to jam at getting ready for Purple Rain.

Growing up in St. Louis Park/Minneapolis, Princely encouters were not uncommon for me and other folks I knew.

Used to see him out at many bars.

When I worked as a video editor I worked the booth he was at and it still had his Oil of Olay! Being an editor there were several Princely stories - but I never saw him in the booth.

I actually worked for the infamous Chris Moon for a short time.

I was working at the Knollwood Theatre opening night of Cherry Moon and he as there; secretly escorted in with his entourage; it was probably the only showing were people wildly applauded at the end; word quickly spread throughout the audience.

My good friend's wife took his photo and stuff at the Chanhassen DMV. She said he as " very nice."

Being at Paisly for the "Gold" shoot.

Being from the area there are truly more "stories" than I can remember. I KNOW there's a ton of good ones I'll remember later.

How about y'all?

Obviously MN folks have plenty to share.

???
