Maybe they will get a cease and desist neutral

Would not be surprised if other radio stations start playing it.

Then they all will get cease and desist letters.

They will if people keep publicly reporting statons that play bootlegs and such.

Well I hope it happens. They full well know what is going on and don't give a shit. I know P's family is strange but legally this is their property not Ian's. If he had the copyright to the material it would be easy to prove and the court would not have ordered him to stop and turn over the tapes.

Im all for the fundage going to the approprite sources/estate etc. Im just talking about radio plays of some material that isntwasnt sanctioned. I see no harm in that sort of as long as it isn't for sale.

Yup. Game over.

They cannot do that because they already have licensing agreements in place. It also needs to be catalogued with the rest of the material and what money would the estate use to put it out. The estate is still in probate and NPG records was set up to distrubute material for licensing. There is no CD plant or streaming site for the music.

What do you mean, "Somebody gave it to them"? It was for sale. I bought it - and still have it and can play it. Maybe someone at the radio station did the same. If it was legally purchased - which it certainly could have been - there's no reason they shouldn't play it. The legal issues are between the estate and the guy who put it out.

It can go back in the bottle. The owners should make the decisions about the music the owners are the heirs and the administrators. I do not even understand the headlines about the family wanting to use the music for their reality show it is their music not the public or the media's

As much as Prince was against bootlegging and was very vocal about it I am puzzeled at fans attitudes I get the media they are just vultrues looking for a internet hit.

Do you know how much unreleased music is out there? I'm sure you have hundreds of unreleased songs yourself. Now what is to stop a dj to throw a song or two thats unreleased into their set? Nada. It's not like dj's who do play unreleased music plays them continuously to make their top ten at 8 shows etc lol.

The genie BEEN out the bottle..got 9 to 5, a wife and some kids, a mortage, 2 cars, a dog and cat.

You do not hear radio D.Js on commercial stations playing bootleggs because they will get sued.

In fact I use to listen to KPFA and one of the late night DJs did play Prince boots until someone reported him I believe to the mgmt. Well his show was not on the air too much longer after that and that was public radio.

Commercial radio stations sell ad time so there is revenue generation involved so no boots cannot be played on the radio.

Prince only had web sheriff and Rhonda Trotter. Comerica has an army of lawyers so this free for all is not going to happen at this point Comerica could be in a tremedous amout of trouble for not guarding the estate assests. They have a fiducary duty per the court and a contract with the sibs.

I don't care what others think the song Deliverance is really good.. heart woot!

However what is happening, outside, with the estate and others I tend to just ignore that.

It is becoming so irritating to read about, and.. I think they got money enough already.

I think there's no need to block the song, just release release release..

And no fights please. wink

Yup. Game over.

I agree that they could fight fire with fire on this one, but the court injuction against Boxill would still have to be settled. We'd still be here discussing it.

I agree with others that I don't think this 16-minute EP is even worth 1 Million dollars.

How many people do they think are going to buy it?

I agree at this point it still hit the net for free so many got it without paying anything which would serve him right putting it out. SO for me I would just let this thing go, he cant use any likeness of PRINCE to sell it technically, I saw that horrible cover he had and it is awful and to be honest, though it's raw sounding and good work, its messy and really nothing more than rehearsals wrapped around one song.

You may be right, someone at the radio may have bought it. I'm assuming the possibility that it was given. Even everytime its getting air play I would assume that royalties would go to someone?

It's going to cost the estate a pretty penny but it has to be done because once this is allowed to slide others will follow and they don't how much more music this guy has.
