Since we're talking live albums, I'd have to say the 2nd Atlanta show. That was Prince's plan. He let us hear the first 30 minutes of it at the last Paisley Park party on 4/16/16. He was sitting on the steps in the Love 4 One Another/NPGMC room listening to it with us.

On the DVD side, were any other shows filmed besides at Paisley Park?

Yes, it was crystal clear. He did say that they were working on it and wanted to clean up the audience screaming. We got to hear up to the song Dark. I heard Indifference on a bootleg and I loved what he did with that song on piano. There are some better set lists out there, but like I said, it was what he wanted.

Yes they should grant his wish.
Also agree on Indifference sounding great, as did Girl

The Atlanta shows are a mustat least the final one since he apparently planned to release it eventually. Despite the issues behind the scenes, it is great even with the poor sound quality of the audiance recorded version and the extreme screaming. I actually enjoyed the audiance reaction the first few listens, as I was so glad that Prince got to hear how much he means to his fans. I can only imagine how great it will be with good sound quality. It would also be nice to get the other bookend, the PP concerts. It would illustrate how the show evolved during the tour. Both show such an intimate and accessible side to him. I sure would sign up for DVDs and CDs, etc.

I think at the Paisley Park shows he was trying out 2 different formats. Show 1 very personal and introspective and going in chronological order with the songs. Show 2 still personal, but way more random in songs. I don't think there was another show on the whole tour like the first Paisley Park show.

I would love a box set of them all as sometimes the song arrangements were a bit different but if that's not possible then at least give us something that contains every song he did on that tour. For instance at one of the Canadian shows he did an amazing mashup of Dolphins and Bowie's Heroes. At that same show he did a cover of Bill Withers Use Me. I don't think he did that at any other show. Both were amazing.

Here is my biggest issue. Why not release a complete set? The work is done. All that needs to be done is small technical stuff. If they have both paisley shows, and they do, then release them both. They aren't doing anyone any good collecting dust in the vault. The strategy with most releases should follow the model of the PR Deluxe. Release something for the masses and release a deluxe edition for the rest of us. Maybe one CD of the final Atlanta show is what the masses will want. Most of us on this site would die for a much more complete set that included DVD's of both paisley shows, the atlanta shows and some of the other shows like Melbourne, Toronto, etc. Take our money. When I'm dead, my grandkids or great grandkids are probably not going to buy expansive releases so they need to get the money from his living diehards now.

Yes yes yes. I know there would be a market for this.

In other words, most of the stuff in the vault is obscure and for diehards. Diehards are generaly mid 40's to mid 50's. There is a 10-15 year window to release all of the obscure stuff and have an opportunity to profit from it.

There is stuff in there for the masses. They can repackage the 1982-1988 stuff for the next 100 years, but the obscure stuff needs to come out soon. My great grandkids arent' going to buy a low resolution DVD of the Dirty Mind tour, but most of us would gladly shell out $$ for it.

I'd say which one sounds the best. Maybe the one where he talks about Vanity or the last one. Edit all his best performances grom that tour put them all together.

As someone at PP both shows 1 and 2, I can testify that the first show was an absolutely incredible, utterly unique insight into Prince's perception of his life, at a time when he was clearly reflecting on his personal relations, achievements and legacy.

.

I would *love* *love* *love* to see this released in some form - and, indeed, the showing of the first part of this concert at the recent celebration has been noted as its unquestionable highlight.

.

I would guess though, that the Atlanta show, which was prepped for release, is actually on the docket - Dr FB said that aside for P4E and PRDE, another album was delivered to WBR, and my guess is this was it.

.

Will be amazing to hear - but I hope it doesn't preclude the PP1 show too.

.

Dream scenario - Atlanta on Disc, PP1 on DVD.

- Yes, it´s true. There is a market for obscure stuff BUT the diehards would also buy the 82-88 stuff remastered, deluxe, etc. So, it will be priority for some time...
Honestly I dont expect stuff like ´Orange is the new black´ so soon

Maybe if they released the final Atlanta show officially would sell well for emotional reasons ("Prince´s last concert")

Paisley Park shows 1/21/17. Hands down.
I saw a review of this by a group of friends who are longtime P fam and they were very moved by those shows.

I need to hear no more than I already have from those who were there.

Those first two shows were an experience that I would love to relive repeatedly with video. And as someone said, they were like one show with an intermission. Prince made himself cry at those first two shows more than once. But there are moments from other shows that are amazing too. Auckland.... When he goes from I Feel 4 U into Controversy is something else... Then continues with Ruff Enuff, Condition of the Heart, and Noon Rendezvous. The Dolphin/Heroes from Toronto as well as Use Me / Feeling Alright were also highlights. Oakland Paramount's The Love We Make/ Pink Cashmere. I about lost my stuff when he did that. And Purple Music in Oakland had the audience going nuts. Baltimore performed live was so much better than the studio version. Dear Mr. Man was/is very timely. There's him landing in Australia and finding out about Vanity's death and performing. That should be put out. And of course the last Atlanta show. Listening to that last show is emotionally hard. I would 100% buy a box set of all the P&M shows.
