Loring Park Sessions Have Never Been Heard - Sound 80 Have

Wow. So what we thought were the Loring Park sessions (with Bobby Z and Andre), have always been the Sound 80 sessions, which were Prince alone. According to Owen Husney, the tracks he recorded at his office (Loring), were just recently digitized and "have yet to be heard".

.

http://blog.thecurrent.or...th-prince/

.

"Although the sessions (were) around the same time as Prince, André and Bobby were jamming in Husney’s office space, Husney believes these particular tracks may have been recorded across town at Sound 80, where Prince laid down many of his demos for Warner Bros. The recordings of the jam sessions he captured in his office were only recently digitized and have yet to be heard, and he’s currently contemplating how to release them."

.

Kinda always thought that was P on drums and bass!

Mods, could we make this a sticky? This is kind of major. One, that what we've heard was all Prince all along, and two, that we haven't heard the Loring Park sessions, with Bobby and Andre.

i've been listening to them again lately and i'm struck everytime by the great soundquality
and just the quality and musicianship on the tracks. always had a feeling they might all be
fakes due to that lol

but to now know that they are the real thing and what's more they're all prince eek i can't
believe how talented he was at such a young age. just, wow.

What if they are fakes? Husney doesn't seem to know the provenance of these recordings.

We knew that he mastered several instruments at an early age, but that he was able to record all of them at this level and make it sound like a band effort is truly impressive.

Sadly, and I bow my head in saying this.

Sadly, this is another example of a missed opportunity by my beloved Prince(RIP).

Can U image if this was done in 2010 or 2013 with Prince Owen Andre & Bobby?

And Prince goes ahead and releases an official Loring Park Session & Sound 80 sessions.

If think of stuff like this and a release of the WB Demo Sessions 1977.

It it cool that some of the very latter works will be released, but I would prefer to have the early years.

I hope it's NOT true. If the drummer is Prince then he had some major time-keeping issues. The tempo speeds up often during fills, the main symptom of a beginner. I assumed from the moment I heard it that it was Bobby Z. The bass and keyboards are very solid, though.

You'll notice that 'time keeping' issue on other stuff he did.

most of Prince's drumming had that 'almost wild' furious jump on the drums.

Like on the Flesh sessions Junk Music or some of the stuff he did like on the America video etc

No problem! Funny thing is that I've heard these tracks for years, and always thought it was just Prince... turns out it was.

Ok lets be absolutely sure of what we are talking about here:

Prince played ALL the instruments on those early recordings that have been circulating on boots?

But it clearly isn't the session with Bobby and Andre.

And it is clear that we need that session with Bobby and Andre.

He loses the tempo a lot. Even on studio recordings. He makes it back though.

I had always been puzzled by the fact that some tracks feature both keyboards and guitar at the same time, implying overdubs that seemed unlikely given the context.

Similarly, I'd always felt the drums really didn't sound like Bobby at all.

It all makes sense now.
