Prince was right. That wasn't lake Minnetonka. She jumped in at one location and came out in another.

Yup - she jumped in in Minnesota and came out in LA.

Yep, and Magnoli talked about it a bit on the bluray extras. It's probably in the audio commentary track. The water was way too cold in MN, so she went in once, and there were divers in the water in case her body went into shock. That's all she was going to do. The coming out was L.A. I swear he said it was near a rock quarry but I might be wrong on that.

You all are not joking right? I thought the place she jumped in was the same place she came out? What about the scenes when she is wet trying to get on the motorcycle with Prince to leave, seems like same area out in the country in MN...?

Nope, totally serious. The whole scenery is different. The log on the shore is different too. The water was freezing that day, and you can see some fog coming off the water. When she comes out, the sun is different a bit, and the big log is (or isn't?) there. She agreed to jump in once, and was a trooper, but yeah, those are two totally different scenes cut together.

I believe, although I'm not sure, that the motorcycle scenes are different. Where the hell did that big green field come from? It was fall leaves when they pull in there, few leaves on the trees. Then when she's bending over to button her jacket (she was behind a bush on the shore before), it's all lush green, etc. Hell, even the treads on his motorbike tires are different in different shots.

You should rewatch the movie, and listen to the audio commentary track with Magnoli, and I think the lighting director for the movie. It's very interesting to hear him talk about things like the scene w/ Prince & his dad after "Father's Song". Each shot going back and forth between Prince and Clarence was 7 seconds each. He mentions how film students might pick up on it, and that he was "counting frames" to make the cuts. He also talks about how he framed "Darling Nikki" with Prince to the side of the frame, and most of the frame sometimes is just bathed in red light. For film dorks, it's cool stuff. For Prince nerds, it's damn near essential to hear those stories about the film.

Been there. Completely overgrown. It was the Minnesota River, about 45 miles south of Chanhassan.

I do not, and there are "No Trespassing" signs posted. Of course, I saw it in the summer, when it was very green. The movie was filmed there in November, when all of the undergrowth and overgrowth was dead. I'm sure the film crew cleaned up the site, too. And it was 30 years ago- lots of time for things to grow!

It's in Henderson, MN. Looks completely different around there today. It's on private property. But there isn't much to see. I still can't believe they filmed that so late in the year, but I guess ya gotta shoot when you can shrug

It was filmed near Herderson MN, along the river and rail track. I went there last week. Looks nothing like it did 34 years ago.

I don't know anything about that pond. But it's never looked as good as when Apollonia was in it.

Been there too. Pretty amazing. Astasheiks, do you know who owns the land? Or were you asking who owns it?
