I was puzzled about this; in concert McCartney referred to this as his "fan letter" to Prince?

I see nothing of the sort.

He's asking for money.

What makes this "sweet?"

It's simply asking for money.

And...he didn't even bother to write out his symbol; I'm assuming he was going by prince at that time hence the "Princely person."

I hope Prince ignored this and spent the money on Minneapolis projects instead.

Which begs the question, how did this letter wind up for auction if it was sent to Prince?

Wonder if he donated any money though, Prince got real philantrophic and conscience minded in the last few years. Plus he was helping Black British artists like Paloma Ayana and Lianne La Havas. At the very least he had a lot of interest in Black English artists like Tricky, Inner City, Mica Paris etc.

.

I am sure if Macca said there would be Black British musicians involved that would have spurred him as Lianne was black and Paloma had some Black ancestry. Not being racist but Prince was really embracing his blackness in the last 15 or so years and was winning respect from places like the NAACP and BET.

.

But then I read that Liverpool is one of England's most poorest and whitest cities.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
