Songs with hidden messages/conspiracy theories

Dear all, I (a Prince fan since the age of 12) am trying to make a list of songs wherein Prince sings about "conspiracy theories" or political disagreements. I need this for research on an art project I am making and I think your knowledge will help me out to finish this research a bit quicker. Many thanks! Luci from Amsterdam - live 4 <3 -

To highlight a few:

PartyUp (anti-war)

Paisley Park (poverty)

1999 9apocolypse)

Annie Christian (gun violence)

Baltimore (gun violence)

We March (racial inequality)

The War (digital vs. human technology, media manipulation)

Animal Kingdom (veganism, animal rights)

Mr. Man (racial & economic inequality)

America

Cinnamon Girl (anti-Muslim story)

Avalanche (slavery, assimilation)

LoveSign (anti-gun)

plus others mentioned above.

You might also read the liner notes to Rave Un2. He won an award for the vegan/anti-fur sentiment in it.

And jokingly I add "Wedding Feast" to it, because it's a silly track about veganism.

So much of The Rainbow Children is build on religion dogma, it's worth reading through the lyrics to find what you might use, as well.

"eye don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."

Annie Christian is not a pro-gun control song. it actually about not blaming some boggy man and it is saying that people use tragic criminal acts to justify their political agenda.

and that when it was just a singer no one cared but when it was a president oh then and only then did they scream "gun control"

"Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!"

Since all of these songs are pretty obviously political, I'm wondering why no mention of Sign 'O' the Times?

Dear Luciana,

.

What a great idea for an art project! Below are some more considerations. The top half of songs can probably be added to your list. The bottom half are songs that may only have a single line in them (E.g.: in Deliverance he mentions "Katrina levies...") but take a look a them and decide for yourself.

Have fun with your project cool

.

New World

Colonized Mind

Golden Parachute

The Future

Act of God

Live For Love

Deliverance

Cause and Effect

Sexuality

Race

The Same December

Right The Wrong

Resolution
