Photographer Justine Walpole Releases New Prince Portrait

This shot from 2012 leaves me speechless. He looks so otherworldly, like he's in the clouds. And, those eyes...

Can you please be more specific about the processing? My untrained eye totally missed it.

Seriously? He's photoshopped as hell. Or did you think he was actually made of porcelain?

That's what I'm sayin'. Do you think he's that yellow normally? And we know those cloud walls are blue, not green. That is not a random snapshot. That has more filters in it than a new Brita pitcher. LAWD.

I've never been an enthusiast of her work- - excessive photoshop use and darkness.

There was a helluva lot of Photoshopping going on in Prince promo pics these past few years. I think all of his photographers were at it, airbrushing out his eyebags and wrinkles. Which most of us get after a certain age. I like seeing pics of him looking real, like these two...

Having said that, I still like these 'art' shots.

That's what I thought, too.
But I think he liked Photoshopped images later in his life.
This one smoothed out any natural look to his skin.

Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

I remember the photo from Musicology on promos for the Regal Cinema event. When you zoomed in on it, you can see some horrible photoshop where someone used the Smudge brush to work out the wrinkles on his forehead. It was so bad. A 5th grade could have airbrushed over that easier.

You picked two particulary bad pictures. I think the truth is somewhere in between.

Why are these bad pics? We all age.

Yeah, Prince looks great in both of them! No shame in looking your age when you're still looking good

Bad in the sense that he looked older and more tired than he usually did even in candid photos.

Ferret

I would have liked to have seen him old and wrinkly, still playing the guitar with wizened hands, showing the youngsters how it's done.

I always thought he would live to be 100 or more!!!

I understand what you mean. But I think we, as a society, sometimes fail to see beauty in the natural faces.

I think it makes him look fat.
As for the other pictures showing his age, the irony is when you get older makeup actually makes you look older. I think he was good for his age but pan stick just caked you.

Love you prince
