Well the audio for the package has been remastered by Bernie Grundman from the masters, who did the original release - which bodes well...

oh man, I thought you were one of the jokers on here. How am I supposed to know where it is?? They lied in the press release, it's hardly the first time and it won't be the last

I don't think its lying, more third hand news getting bungled in a press release before the project is really finalised. Realistically 2 vault discs was stretching it as that would leave no space for b sides / extended. People on here need to remember it has to appeal to the hardcore and more casual fans who may have never heard 17 days. Plenty of comments already show how difficult it would be to please the hardcore anyway.

The problem with disc 2 is that we don't get extended versions, we get edited versions.

I imagine Warners were planning to announce this on Friday, so are probably a bit pissed off about the jumping of the gun. There goes our chance of a 10CD "1999" box set, then.

There's five 12" versions of songs on there.

It's the version that has Prince giving an speech about Hallways, Corridors, Hate, in the background. Trust me, it's the BEST version of Computer Blue!

Yippee!

In that case they should have waited to register the songs with the publishing and collections folks where any songwriter can search and find them.

Anyway, there's always things to worry about. There's multiple (well....at least 2) hardcore collectors on this very forum who I happen to know have both "Love & Sex" and "Katrina's Paper Dolls".......Since those songs are coming out anyway, they might well leak them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but apart from the I Would Die 4 U and Another Lonely Christmas, all the other extended versions in disc 2 (and I'm talking about disc 2 only) can be bought in iTunes. Let's Go Crazy was in Ultimate. Plus I haven't checked, but are the edited versions the same ones we got in 4Ever?

Clearly the point of Disc 2 is to present the complete 7" and 12" edits of all the singles from the album. Zero songs on there have not been released before. Many are available now digitally and a few are not. The point is to get them all together with the same mastering.

Last night, I got a tip from an industry insider that Warner Bros had registered all the tracks for Purple Rain Deluxe. As a songwriter myself with registered works, I have access to these databases - after following the lead wediscovered the following registrations - all recently registered by Warners marked with a 2017 release date and with full ISRC codes (These codes are used to identify released works across platforms).

So, without further ado here it is! Exclusive information about the forthcoming long-awaited Prince release, PURPLE RAIN DELUXE, to be released in June! Please feel free share this information across the whole Purple Family - all I ask is that you follow my facebook page (The Violet Reality) and repost the included image.
Please note - this is not necessarily the final order of tracks - and it's also possible (though unlikely) that there are other tracks not registered yet. Also worth noting - we've yet to hear anything about the accompanying live video DVDs.

I don't care what some others say, I'm gonna purchase this on day one and blast the holy heck out of these crystal clear HQ sound! I'm still wondering about packaging, price, and the two full concert dvds.

paying $50 by itself. And yet we quibble...

Which is all fine. But it makes it one album of unreleased music, not two, and an awful lot less exciting than it wold be with a clear version of purple rain with the extra verse, the longer version of the Beautiful Ones, the extended version of 17 Days (if it exists) and so on.

You'd think WB would make an official announcement any minute now seeing as they have no clue about issuing a press release BEFORE registering songs/albums on a public database!! grandpa

Yes that is correct.

as i've said multiple times in this thread, there should be another cd of unreleased music on this release.

For clarity, and if anyone is interested, here is a copy of the original press release by Warner where they clearly state that included will be two cd's of unreleased music which, assuming this list is correct, is not the case. And yeah i'd agree it's more likely just people bungling a press release than straight out lying but unless you take it all very personally and flip out the results are the same.

I dont consider this the first vault release after his passing as Prince himself is the one who picked these tracks according to many articles. I will buy it, but lets wait and see how the first real release comes together.

All those vault tracks already being in circulation is pretty good sign it was Prince who came up with it. He always wanted to get the real versions of the bootlegged stuff out there first ( for the most part )

Warner may have added We Can Fuck and Wonderful Ass, I can;t imagine Prince chose those given his stance on swearing at the time, unless he changed the lyrics to Wonderful Bum and We Can Freak.

Yep, old media in full effect err

Many independant labels offer more content via download, but I can't see that happening with WB

From the same people that gave us Moonbeam Levels? I wouldn't jump up and down just yet.

I had the great pleasure of meeting and speaking with Susan Rogers about this release fairly recently and based on what she said about the care they are putting into finding the right versions in the vaults, I think its ok to get excited haha. The fact that she seemed pleased at the care WB is taking for this release is enough for me to feel excited for it, and to have full studio mastered versions of my favorite Prince outtakes makes this great for me.

When she told me they were scouring the vaults making sure the specific version of Wonderful Ass coming out is the one that Prince would have wanted out - that sealed the deal for me.

To me, that suggests Prince hadn't okayed a disc containing unreleased tracks from the vault - because you'd think he would have already selected the versions he wanted on any such disc.

.

Anyway...I'm thrilled we're getting a previously-unheard studio version of 'Electric Intercourse' - and I suppose that makes up for no 'G-Spot' and 'Purple Rain' with the extra verse (will we ever get those, I wonder?)?!
.
Here's hoping that we get a great quality DVD of the First Avenue gig where they played PR for the first time. I love seeing that sweaty, purple face! biggrin

Hmmm, given this info does not include the DVD info, and therefore is incomplete of full package release, maybe the 2nd CD (of unreleased info) is a yet to be detailed CD single/EP of one of the unreleased tracks from disc 3 - containing further unreleased songs from the Purple Rain era. Just a thought(pipe dream)? Would certainly maximise earnings for WB forcing the fans to buy the single also? Possibly including your G-spot, traffic jam and one or 2 others????

People are moaning about disc 2..but lets be honest people would moan whatever was on the release, im actually really glad to have all the edits together...really makes for a complete package, and I cant wait to hear Prince's high pitch screeching God vocal's and the funkyness of Erotic City in a remastered form.....instead of just volume levelling as we previously have had...

That's an absolute cop-out.

If WB had delivered what they promised - two discs of unreleased material (a healthy mix of leaked and unleaked stuff) - the would be no complaints.

Stop trying to justify poor decision making just because you part with your money easily.

Not only that but I remember when this set was first announced people on these boards were saying that the extended versions/etc NEEDED to be in this set for completion. What can I say, it's the internet....
