Is Moonbeam Levels any good?

On the Prince4ever Album, Released 11/22/2016: "the previously-unreleased Moonbeam Levels had not appeared on a previous studio compilation album in any form."

I mean, for decades it has been consistently held up as one of the better circulating unreleased tracks, so a lot of people certainly think so.

.

What do you think, do you think it's any good?

Wasn't a huge fan of it until I heard him playing a piano only version with no lyrics and I became taken with it.
.
But at the same time I adore him on just stripped down piano so there's that...

Personally, I love it. Through my excellent Beats headphones, there are nuances that are otherwise missed.
As part of a tribute, this "he doesn't want to die" song is perfect.
.
I just wish that 4ever had had better promotion.
Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

My SolRepublic's are playing it really well, too. I'm still not sure if it's from the original mastertape or not. Other stuff from this era sounds better. (It's probably been discussed to a sickening level on here.)

It's always been one of my top 10 outtakes, including stuff like "Electric Intercourse", "Horny Toad", "All My Dreams", "Old Friends 4 Sale".

Pulling our leg aren't you? Don't think an orger from 2002 would do an OP like this? Hell, only a first week newbee would consider such a naive question on a song that is constantly talked about.

Not to me. And more than that I didn't need to hear him singing about death and say I don't wanna die. Bad timing in my opinion. I know lots of people that had bootlegs liked it. I didn't. Not being released when it was.

The timing was slightly macabre for me. Personally, i have conflicting emotions about the song. Maybe in time, i will fathom the lyrics.

In short, yes. Not one of my favorites overall, but still pretty good/great. My question is..you've been a member since 02 and you have over 8k of posts under your belt, and you've never listened to Moonbeam Levels?! And hey not for nothing, but I got a bridge for sale. Its located between Wonderful Ass Ave. and Wet Dream Cousin Ln. Adonis and Bathsheba know where it is, ask them. Make me an offer.

I hear ya! Do you think Warner Brothers was trying to be smart as taking a jab at Prince since he says, "I'm lookin' 4 a better place 2 die"???
