Much as I still have my issues with it, I can not deny Tidal is the best for P super-fans like us. And I have discovered some great non-Prince music on there as well. IMHO, I'd go as far as saying that Tidal is for the legit music heads, while Spotify is for the more casual aka I-don't-take-music-as-seriously-as-others, and that's ok. Spotify is great, no judgment. With that being said, it CRUSHED me beyond belief when Tidal dropped 3121, CB, Exodus, ONA (as well as It ain't Over..), Girl 6 and whatever else I'm forgetting. Basically, a significant amount of stuff disappeared. Of course I have the physical copies of just about everything, but for somebody without wheels, my phone is essentially my music source, and I NEED access to whatever Prince I fancy at the time. Is there a reason they dropped some but not all? Only a little time to stream exclusively? How the hell is The War of all things still available, but yet Musicology and 3121 were dropped? This shit is puzzling to me.

Exodus and Girl 6 are still there.

Regarding Exodus, since when? Because not only was the album seemingly erased, the entire NPG artist page was erased from my library as well! I'm serious as a heart attack!

It's there right now. Search under new power generation and you get NPS, Exodus, Diamonds and pearls, 0(+> and the Gett Off EP.

Unless there's regional differences. I'm in New Zealand.
If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

After you told me that, I went back and took a look on tidal and edited my original post after seeing what I saw. I'm sort of lazy, but it's there on my original post.

If you already have the physical copies then why not upload the missing Prince albums directly to your phone so you always have access to them?

UGHHHH that's a whole 'nother can of worms. Let's just say...that if I could, I would. Changing service providers come July, so this all may change.

Good luck. I have enough free space on my phone to hold the entire back catalogs of a handful of my essential artists (not Prince though) which is one reason why I've never felt the need to subscribe to a streaming service.

If Prince was not on Tidal, would you still prefer it over Spotify?

I take music very seriously, and I like Spotify.

Not in the very least, friend. My allegiance to Prince and what's available of his on there is the ONLY reason I use Tidal. And please let me explain my reasonings when I say that A.) I have my issues with Tidal and B.) Why I feel it's superior to Spotify at the same time. For starters, as much as I love hip-hop, Tidal is farrrrr too hip-hop-oriented. They certainly showcase other kinds of music, but let's not kid ourselves: You're bombarded with hip-hop stuff as soon as the app/site is launched. Another reason I dislike it is because of Jay-Z. Jay-Z the rapper? Sure, I like some stuff. The businessman? No thanks. He ain't the man of the struggling artist like he portrayed himself to be with the launch. I don't like putting money into the pockets of a man I find to be very superficial. Tidal came with a bad reputation upon delivery, and I haven't shaken it. Now for the good: They care VERY MUCH about sound quality. You have the premium subscription, and the ultra one. The ultra one is cd quality sound, an option not many other streaming sites offer. It's double the price of the premium, but worth it for a serious audiophile, which I am not. I also find Tidal and how to navigate through it to be sleeker, and overall more well-done than Spotify. Spotify, and how the user's library is set up is clunky to me. Anyway, when word got out P's stuff was coming back to Spot, I was so ready to kick Tidal's ass out of the world. But then the sad truth came that only a percentage of his stuff was on it, so I kept Tidal. So I guess my mixed feelings towards may Tidal be a little trivial, perhaps subjective. But if the day comes when all of P's post-WB material hits Spotify, I'm jumping ship immediately.

Thanks for the reply - I'm pretty much of the same mind when it comes to Tidal.

Having said that, I have had nothing but phenomenal service using the Tidal Store. Once Prince's NPGMC stuff came up for sale in FLAC quality, I downloaded it. No regrets.

While I agree that Tidal has a nicer interface than Spotify, the sleekest, most well made streaming website was Rdio and that went under because ultimately no one really cared. If you're a true audiophile you'd be on stevehoffman moaning about the sound quality of your Ponoplayer, don't kid yourselves that Tidal is anything but a failing vanity purchase for Jay-Z.

Vanity purchase must be a new business term? He just got 22 million from Sprint so a company with big cash does not see it as a vanity business.

I can see Tidal putting on movies and T.V shoes just like Netflix. It is too Hip Hop oriented but it does give Hip Hop guys a chance to get away from major lables so maybe we will get back to real Hip Hop and not the crap the major lables are pushing.

I like the sound quality and have discovered a lot of good music. I do not expect Prince's music to come off until the Tidal contract ends in 2019.

Spotify has 50 million paying members and is still losing money. Tidal has just over 1 million paying members. Maybe they'll pull off some brilliant coup and win the streaming game. I'd bet against them though. Ultimately time will tell.

As for non major label hip-hop, most of that is done through SoundCloud. Almost every exclusive Tidal has had has been with a major label star, they dont seem to be chasing that dream.

Tidal is my top choice. I don't understand why so many ppl love Spotify. Good marketing maybe?

For younger people - no student discount ouside of US therefore making Spotify/Apple Music half the price. I would get Tidal straight away if this was changed but I can't see it happening.

Prince: 1958-infinity. Thank U for everything.

Tidal should be the same price if you don't go with the lossless version, no?
