Cloud Guitar question: North East West South?

A question about the Cloud guitar (this is not a question about the N.E.W.S. album!)

I was looking at this website's version of the Cloud Guitar for sale (comparing details against the Paisley Park Schecter version), and reading the description it states that Prince originally had four Cloud Guitars made and named them North, East, West, and South?

Just curious if anyone knows if this is true, or if there's a story behind it?

Side note: the detail on this is not nearly as good as what Paisley Park is offering, but for a 1/3 the price looks pretty decent.

I don't know the answer to your first question. But, I did purchase one of the cloud guitars from that website. It aesthetically looks beautiful, but it is set up very poorly. I spent well over $350 to replace all of the fretwork they did. It's an OK investment, if you do not plan on playing the guitar. So, for me I spent way more than I intended. But, I purchased the Cloud guitar that Paisley Park is offering, so I know that will be quality! cool

those are garbage.

shouldn't even call them guitars.

best bet is to find a diamond series cloud on ebay or reverb.

swap pickups for emg's and done..

Pardon by bluntness, but those are some serious knock off bull shite. The Far East counterfeits everything and anything. You get exactly what you pay for. Personally I've seen it a lot of it with guitars, sneakers, handbags and 'polished turd' 1960s scooter restoration. Cheap, talented labor. Inadequate materials. Anything beneath the surface is suspect.

Tempting though, eh? There's always free cheese in the mousetrap.

mah man makes a good point. If it's not going to be played, then go for it. Personally PM me images if you do. I love reading about this stuff.

And is it a knock off if it's a recoration of a custom design? It's not like they're selling it as a Gibson. Or the latest Jordans. Or that Marc Jacobs bag the ladies love.

Carry on.

I would say yes, it's a knock-off however you look at it.

I think my post might have come off as me asking about the guitar that is for sale. It wasn't. But on that note, if I do get one it will be an official Paisley Park version.

The post was inquiring about the story on the website, about Prince's own original four Clouds being named North, East, West, and South. I've heard stories of some being painted, some being destroyed, and another (rumor?) about one being thrown into the ocean. But I've never heard about them being named until the Blue Angel.
