So, I requested a Prince song on a nightclub and had a revelation.

Is it just me or is "I Wanna Be Your Lover" THE best pure pop song if you only study the shallow layers. Beat, song, vibe, hype, lyrics that are not to complex. Bare in mind, the dancefloor, me included, went fucking nuts during those minutes. And also, Billie Jean was playing just before and people were mellow dancing like the song seems to be intended for. But when IWBYL dropped the place went mad.

Also, this DJ had a version in which the first minute is a soundboard from a liveconcert where he has a REALLY high pitch in his singing. And it ends with only the audience singing the chorus. In one moment Prince comes in and says right before the chorus "Come on y'all" . And then from the fade away the album version kicks in. And it's mesmerizing almost. Next time I will request my personal favourite of pure pop songs "1999"

That version is the Dimitri From Paris re-edit, it is indeed great.

I forget the rules for linking so I won't just in case, but it's up all over the place if you Google.

Yeah, I think it's Dimitri like you mentioned! I've been reminded of that version before. So you're right. Well, it was spectacular to hear on a loud system.
