pro's and cons of Prince's JW conversion...

I have very mixed feelings about this choice of his...but I do think it might have garnered some good. I say "might" because these changes in Prince might have happened with or without the conversion. I do however think some of the changes were directly linked to his new faith...

Pros--

--more community minded (he did seem more so in 2000's than in the 90's)--might be a link to his religion, might not.

--more charity (possibly the result of his religion or his loss or both)

--not as reliant on vulgarity to write albums (which is good and bad)

--more humility

--security

--more warmth on stage (maybe its linked)

--more polite to his employees (may or may not be linked.)

Cons

--possibly broke up two marriages

--politics got a bit nuts

--distanced him from Wendy and Lisa at least for a little while

--postponed any real help he might have gotten from doctors/psycharists

--stiffled his creativity at times

--limited his friendship base

--made him less cool

--took away christmas and birthdays

My thought on the biggest con is that it created a sense of guilt that somehow his life style was the reason his two children died. This may have led him to substance abuse and the guilt associated with this, and being a JW, would create more need to hide. I have no doubt that he felt conflicted many many times, and this may have led to more escapism through drugs.

yeah, I think so too. Misdirected guilt. I think he should have concerned himself with sustaining relationships with his musicians and not guilt over something he really didn't do wrong...bad language is not a big deal.
