CoolMF

Warner Brothers haven’t even heard the Album .

No one has a copy except Prince.

Those were the days...and then he became a "slave" to Warner Bros. 2 years later...

I listened to Andre's lastest album, and it sounded like crap, plus he doesn't have the chops to sing Prince songs. It's okay to be nostalgic, just don't go to one of these shows with high expectations.

I can be a true friend, or a worthy adversary. The choice is yours.

Honestly I'd probably prefer an Andre Cymone show with a few Prince songs he worked on thrown in. Same with the Revolution, Wendy and Lisa music with some Brown Mark solo stuff and Revolution stuff they had a hand in writing. It'll still all be great though, they should put aside their differences and tour together.

Yeah I wish Andre and Dez were touring with The Revolution. That was a great line up when they performed at First Ave last year. And they fit so well together. Shame.

People throw "shame" around way too much. It's not shameful because it's what The Revolution has decided to do. I don't know what Dez is doing, but Andre is playing with the NPG, and that's pretty fucking cool if you ask me.

If you look at it, those First Avenue gigs were unique unto themselves, really. There were a lot of other folks who played in those shows. But The Revolution is a very specific thing, whereas the NPG had a revolving door of members. Those could be much more interesting, in a different way, just because of a whole array of folks that could circle in and out.

Don't get me wrong, it'd be cool to see all the pre-1986 folks together. I'm totally with you on that. Even Miko, Eric, Bliss, Susannah, would be nice to see. But that core 1984/95 version is what's going to be super special.

I'm confused here..

Unless I bought my tickets from a fraudulent source; it doesn't look like the event @ Redondo Beach is selling well at all.... I hope it's not cancelled....I'm gifting a few.

At least.... the orchestra seats aren't selling. (no telling about the terrace GA seats)

I'm hoping that the Hyde Park show means that they do a London show of their own around this time. I'm also hoping that Michael Bland can do the UK show(s) - I don't see any Soul Asylum shows scheduled for that month...

I tend to agree with you. Andre appears to be mostly swag but not much presence. Watching clips from some of his performances reminds of a short pitch. Still very talented. Hope they have fun.

--I listened to some of his album and it is shockingly bad. He also yells out something about being incarcerated in one song maybe that explains why he does not know any of P's music.

Are you referring to The Stone? I haven't heard it. Tome he tries to be too clever for no good reasons and that really doesn't translate well in music, imo.

I only know about some tracks from 1969 the new one. I never was even able to find the Stone.

I love Andre, especially for his time in the purple camp.

But like I said in another thread, it is very interesting how he is 'championing Prince's music' NOW, yet admitted he never listened to another Prince album after he left the camp. Which means Controversy - HitnRun Phase II

Did he even go see Purple Rain?

Or was he so divorced from Prince because of what happened back then...

Is Tony M going to lead?

Great news for music fans and a true testament to the legacy of Prince's music. P's crew knows his music better than anyone else and the fact they still want to play it together and deliver it to the fans really speaks volumes. Morris Hayes is a class act and let's hope the concerts and talk of new music continues healing the soul. For heights and depths no words can reach, music is the souls own speech! Long live the NPG prince

From a new appreciation of the music of Prince and reading of his history and including The Revolution Band that he hired to tour with I am reminded how "soon we forget". The Band members and musicians that,on being relieved of their jobs were all indignant about how much they had contributed to the music of Prince and were not acknowledged, so would go out into the world and SUCCEED on there own. Well! did they? Is that why they are now riding on the "coattails" of their previous employer who wrote these songs they are singing and "rebirthing" their so called successful careers. Well the world goes around and so does Karma.
