--We have no way of knowing that do we. The point is he was not the monster person a select few are trying to make him out to be to sell books and get internet clicks.

Disagree.
I don't think P wanted anyone around him who he couldn't be "friends" with or even fold into a familial situation.
Morris Hayes, 20 years.
Shelby J, 10'years.
Etc

He elevated people from menial jobs gradually into higher positions. Some ended up as band members, others even into management positions.

I agree plenty of people have called him a good friend. The Prince of Darkness narrative that tabloid media is trying to sell just does mesh with what other people who knew him her saying.
