3 Chains O' Gold DVD/Bluray

Any chance we see this? Sign O The Times became more widely available after his death, wondering if you think Chains might get the same treatment. I don't believe Sign was ever released on DVD.

Sign 'O' The Times is available on bluray on Amazon. It is a Japanese release but it does play on US Bluray players. The sound and picture is amazing!

SOTT had a Brazil version and a Canadian version, didn't it? I forget which one was superior (but I wanna say Canada. It's the version Palladia played when it came out, along with the widescreen versions of PR and UTCM and GB.

I doubt all that old shit is going to get a redo on bluray etc. They might pancake it out on DVD at some point, but frankly some of the fan redos are pretty great. I'd like to tackle the "Gett Off" videos and build a nice menu for it, etc. Hell, maybe I can do something with 3 Chains.

There is, of course. But LaserDisc is still analog and generally only slightly better than VHS, so it would still be very far from the technical capabilities of BluRay.

A proper BluRay release, on the other hand, would cost a lot to master and since (I assume) the 3CoG material was shot on Beta (still analog), therefore it's not high definion to begin with, it would be more realistic to expect a DVD rerelease in the future.

I'd love to see a series of BluRay releases with beautifully remastered versions of every single promotional videos and short films Prince ever made (including all the previously unreleased ones), but I wouldn't hold my breath...

The best version of the Sign Times DVD I have seen is the free one given away with a newspaper.

.

This is the best DVD version by far!

I have both. The Canadian version is the good one. The Brazil release was clearly a bootleg (despite being available at Best Buy & Amazon). It was an awful transfer, had a Purple Rain era cover and the subtitles were hilariously wrong.

Is the Canada version the one that corrects a few mistakes, like Mico clapping off beat at the beginning of ICNTTPOYM? It literally cuts to the same shot twice, once is him clapping on the 1 and 3 (wrong), and the next is him on the 2 and 4 (correct). I remember the widescreen version on Palladia having that moment fixed. I forget if the hiccups during Beautiful Night were fixed or not (Prince is clearly not drumming to the moment on the audio).

I can't say I remember which version it is. It's been a minute since I watched it and it was such an upgrade over the brazil boot crapfest that I wasn't looking to nitpick it.

I'm sure somebody here could answer that question. If nobody does, I'll pop it in and get an answer for you.

wink
