Synths on Art Official Age album

Synths on AOA are different in sound than in many albums from 90s and 2000's.

they have more dept ,more rich .listen to This Could Be Us for

example.

who was responsible for the great synth sounds all over the album

.was it Prince or Josh (which i doubt) and did he used analog synths or soft synths?

Sounds like Kontakt to me (a soft-sampler by Native Instruments) but as most keyboard workstations are also sample based these days, it's hard to tell.

Josh was credited as co-producer and I've always felt that he had a strong influence on the soundscape of AOA. I seem to remember reading at the time the album came out that there were 2 or 3 tracks on the album where Josh did basically all of the music on.

RIP sad

I have no clue, maybe that's why prince chose a young producer, it sounds like a very different sound than the 80's that's for sure.

i'd have to listen to that track again, i'm talking production mainly, the sound is very modern and big, I can imagine some of the old school fans not liking that though. Bruce Springsteen hired a young producer in 2001 and I don't really like a lot of the changes either. The sound is almost too good today, there isn't any dirt left which as a rock fan, i don't really care for. I don't want perfection, i want something genuine.

It was definitely AOA. Josh was co-producer on AOA, on Phase 1 Josh was the only credited producer.

obviously i wasn't in the studio.. my opinion is based on the crap music and the crap digital sound... when i think of Prince + Synths.. i think 1999.. controversy.. Purple rain.. Dirty mind... ect.. not... some Josh produced nonsense...

ohhh i think we need a change here... (let's use a white noise filtered sweep again) YEAH that's what the track needs!!! lol lol lol
