ForceofNature

"Even more tantalizing is the remastered Purple Rain deluxe edition, slated for release early next year. While details are incomplete, the set will include "a second album of previously unreleased material," according to the press release, which also notes that plans for the set "were agreed with Prince before he passed away."

This is from this link: http://www.billboard.com/...in-deluxe. So if someone wanted to put together a fake tracklist it would not be unlikely that they saw the "second album" bit and assumed that there would only be one album of unreleased material and another disk of stuff that has already been out there. Then again to me fake or not we will know the official tracklist anyway relatively soon so I am cool waiting for the official announcement

So are the last two audio or video?

Apparently, both video.

Yes. According to the WB release they said two live performances would be released.

When the PR Deluxe original masters were sent to Warner recently they arrived at the NY company offices covered in purple drapes. True story.

What do legal issues have to do with sourcing? If they don't own the rights, they can't release them. If they do, they are allowed access to the master/ dupetapes.

I'm literally talking physical access to the tapes themselves. I don't follow the family stuff too closely but anytime I take a glance it's just an ongoing shitshow. Maybe it's all sorted and professionals are busy archiving everything and it's all running smoothly.

Which would mean that the tracklist provided to us here is a massive disappointment.

.
I highly doubt WB or any other company had access to the actual tapes in Paisley Park's Vault(s) by the time this deluxe set had to be finalised for a June release. Possibly still no-one has started cataloging the Vault at this stage.

Some industry guys might have been shown the Vault but probably told no touchy.

So I assume that whatever will be included in the deluxe release, WB either already had (either analog or digital) duplicates of from long ago, or it has been given to them by Prince in recent years.

I just can't imagine the estate's legal affairs being that clear by the end of 2016 that would've allowed them to start working on cataloging the Vault(s) and allowing Warners access to the tapes themselves. Think about it: preparing this release would've meant either transferring the stereo masters to digital inside Paisley's own studio (don't know if the studio itself is staffed at all at this time), or letting WB people take those tapes. Both unlikely before the estate's legal proceedings are finished and clear.

(And btw, if I was running Paisley Park I wouldn't allow any tapes or photos or any other original material leave the building, ever. Everything would be digitised in-house.)

I'm inclined to believe this. The OP is a long timer on here, can't see him posting fake tracklists.

And it's unlikely his wife or wifes friend will go to the extent of winding him up with a fake detailed tracklist like this.

.

I guess this could be a work in progress and subject to change list but as others have said it will be disappointing to not get 17 Days Extended or Possessed.

I really hope G-Spot is included. It's no raunchier than Darling Nikki, if that's why they might choose to omit it. I'd be a little disappointed, but happy with the rest of this turned out to be the final track list.

It's important to note that this release is for the vast majority of consumers, to whom the majority of these tracks would be fresh and new. It's not at all for hardcore Prince fans who are likely to buy it anyway. Also note that this package is rumored to have been agreed to prior to Prince's passing, if that's the case, songs like G-Spot & Irresistible Bitch, wouldn't be the kinds of songs Prince would've wanted to release now.

I disagree. Deluxe editions are always for the fans, not for those who buy Best Of compilations at the supermarket.

Most of the versions I've heard from the Purple Rain tour are about that length.

There's no way this is real, so it won't be an issue - but how is this a "joke of tracklist"? What could make it better?

I doubt it is real and I kind of hope not: album 3 is cool but 2 is all released stuff and 2 concerts are fine i guess. seems like it would not be Syracuse... but whatever I guess I will pick it up!

I wonder which version of God that is. Hopefully the Love Theme from Purple Rain version.

It's probably God (Vocal) and I agree, the collection will not be complete without God (Instrumental). mad

And I was hoping for a DVD with the Syracuse concert. neutral

And a vocal version of Possessed (Instrumental) would have been cool, too. smile

I'm not promising anything. Who said anything about stealing anyway? Maybe I'll accept it as a "gift" from somebody. I don't really appreciate u insinuating I'm a thief

No I didn't, your jumping to conclusions. I could have meant I won't bother with the product at all.
having said it all that, I don't really have a problem if somebody wants to steal from warners. I don't see why that would mean they cannot comment on the product

In keeping with dodger's sentiments, let me politely say that I believe you did. If you weren't going to listen to it, you would have said, "I am not going to listen to it". But you said something else that implied you intended to not only listen to it, but possess it - without paying for it. If I am wrong, I apologize.

Now, I do have a problem with stealing from Warners, or from anyone else. It's wrong. And you aren't stealing just from Warner's, you're stealing directly from the artist. Stealing is wrong. It was when I was young; it is now; and it always will be wrong. There is no justification for stealing an artist's work. None. A thief is a thief is a thief.

Therefore, if one chooses to be a thief then one should not get offended when called what he is. And if one chooses to be a thief, then they are of a lower element of society than I am, and I sure don't want to hear what they have to say about anything.

Fair enough, but you are still jumping to conclusions...even if I were to listen to it without paying for it, that doesn't necessarily mean I would have to steal it biggrin
