Question about electric piano used in 80s

Prince used a particular electric piano sound... it's used in Electric Intercourse, and other recordings of the time.

I'd like to know what model/brand of electric piano it was. I like the sound. Thanks.

.

Yamaha CP-80 (and/or CP-70).

Both are very heavy beasts btw, and for the touring musicians it was a pain to tune before each gig.

definitely, it didn't sound like a pure piano sound, didn't know what model it was but I recall seeing him do soundcheck through the windows of our arena here and seeing him play piano on the lovesexy tour. Sounded like an electric piano of some kind. In those days the tended to be heavier, hell, i have a keyboard form 16 years ago and it weighs 70 pounds. It's a bitch, not because it's heavy, but because i have to move through people and get everything attached, when i go play, generally open mics. Prince, i'm gonna kick you're little behind when i get there, this shit ain't fun and it's your fault.

If you have never, listen the piano sounds in the movie Blade Runner(1982)

the look and sounds of the movie gave Prince inspiration

not much to tell really, there was a group of us nutty fans with no lives who came early, like a couple hours early just to be close to him. at one point there were some stirrings inside, so a bunch of us went and found an aisle way where we could see the stage through the outside of the building. Some guy said "i want to marry you kat" when he saw Kat. I still remember hearing the piano, it sounded super amplified and not like a real piano then he pimp walked off the stage, I guess having completed the soundcheck. The piano part of the show was most likely identical to the ones that you can see on youtube from around that time. Show was great, probably the best I'd ever seen live, all things considered. I mean, Stevie and Terence Trent D'arby sang way better and Terence was bad in his own right as a performer but you put everything together, Prince's lovesexy show had so many things going for it. I saw his musicology performance in the same venue and although he was still a great performer, even better musician and singer, he wasn't the athlete he was and the presentation was more traditional. In other words, no thunderbirds onstage, no scantily clad women, no basketball hoops and no dark interludes where he's acting like he's shooting someone. Of course I loved both and wished I'd have gotten to a couple other shows I missed here.
