Not the best albums but they had ...

List albums that are not fan favorites or maybe considered to be his weakest albums but they still had something great about them.

my pick

New Power Soul -great horns all over the album

Mplsound-amazing rhythm guitar playing

Emancipation Prince at his most melodic

HitNRun phase 1- sick bass playing by Prince

I will second 'New Power Soul' - not only for the killer horn arrangements, but because I think several of the songs are stronger than often given credit for...

It has started to get some love here recently, but I have always loved the O+-> album. BATMAN and DnP had left me a little cold. I was starting to swirl out of Princeland. He hadn't toured the states since Lovesexy. Then BAMM! SEXY MUTHAFUCKER lands and wow! I am back in the Purple camp again! All the vids were dope, and that live special hed did at PP was amazeballz as was the tour. All hail O+->!

New Power Soul has really grown on me over the years. Not a bad record at all. You are right, several songs are strong...especially Come On which is infectious.

I agree with the love for the love symbol album (which does seem to be gaining fan support)

My 2nd choice would be Come part of what was termed contractual obligation filler, but was clearly much more to Prince

Finally I go with Chaos and Disorder which to me has always been a well sequenced and enjoyable album, it suffered only when compared to albuns that fitted a different purpose, for example Sign of the times. If it was unreleased it would have been a pity as it found a home for tracks like Dinner with Delores, Chaos and Disorder, I like it there, I will, Into the light, had u, etc, etc, etc.

Chocolate Invasion sure is funky despite it's lowly repetation. It may not be one of his best but it is one of his funkiest!

Lotusflow3r is a mess but it has some KILLER prog-flavored tracks on it and some wonderfully nuanced guitar playing.

I second that notion. I love 'Chaos' and consider it the best album he released in 1996.

I'd regard Lotusflow3r as one of his best...

Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.
