Spotify consistently makes losses and has borrowed a lot. Maybe only a matter of time before a bigger company buys them up.
The world's problems like climate change can only be solved through strategic long-term thinking, not expediency. In other words all the govts. need sacking!
If you can add value to someone's life then why not. Especially if it colors their days... | |

I'm happy there are albums on there but there is just no care taken at all - it's all so haphazard. The fact that Sign O' The Times has edits and the sound is all over the place makes it unlistenable as an album (the first track into Play is like walking into a different room). And where are the rest of the extended mixes? The Black album? You'd think with such a release fanfare then some of this would have been noticed and addressed.....especially SOTT!!!

Other Prince tracks seem to have returned to Spotify.. amongst them.. Chaka Khan - I Feel For You Cyndi Lauper - When You Were Mine Bangles - Manic Monday Prince - A Case Of U (Joni Mitchell tribute album) Prince - Good Love (Bright Lights Big City soundtrack)
..and probably many more Prince penned tracks.

I wish that there was a version of Lovesexy on Spotify with the individual tracks instead of the whole thing as 1 track. I know that Prince wanted it all as 1 track and it is an experience listening to the whole album start to finish. However, I really want to listen to Anna Stesia and I don't like having to keep rewinding to 16:32 where the song starts. First world problem, I know. But separate tracks would be nice! Are HnR Phase 1 and 2 Tidal exclusives? From the albums missing on Spotify these two are the ones that bother me the most. The gp probably wants to listen his last records. |

That being said I will discontinue my Tidal membership once I've purchased all the music I want for my permanent collection. Which I pretty much have except for 3121! The Recording Industry Association of America is out today with an overview of the performance of the music industry during 2016. As detailed in a blog post, the music industry saw revenue of $7.7 billion during 2016, up 11.4 percent compared to the year before.
Perhaps most notably, the report states that streaming music revenue from Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, and YouTube made up the majority of that revenue for the first time ever.

It's understandable how people prefer streaming music--it is easy access for cheap. I suspect, however, that the services have the potential to bleed-out the talent that produces the streamers' content. Streaming services provide consumers a temporary distribution and storage of music and a chance to listen to something new for their money. However, their role today neglects development of new talent, and they pay little in terms of a living wage to the majority of talent that contract with them. It is for musicians, at best, an advertising tool of variant impact among their spectrum that I believe to be driven mainly by factors outside the domain the of the streaming services. > For now streaming revenues are on the rise and it's a cool scene for the companies and their subscribers. In time we'll see where this all goes in terms of sustaining new streaming content for consumers. Granted, it is nice to eliminate the middleman for musicians presenting music to consumers, but who is selling what to whom in the given dynamic? Musicians will need to eat so they can continue to create stuff just to give away to their fans and the public. My feeling is that they'll have to get busier on the ground, using their own wits, energy, and all their contacts--given the right terms-- to earn a dollar, just like our guy Prince was trying to do. > Everybody's got to go for theirs, though, so musicians, go get your money and go Spotify (I hope that they can fix those errant file tags) etcetera! > I love the musicians, tho'--support the arts!

Hi Rev, I bought 3121 on Tidal. I found things come and go... not sure why, it's almost like they change sku numbers or something and albums get hidden for a while. Also you might see something on streaming and not in the store, in that case just use the album number from the streaming url and put it in the store url. Good Luck. ~~Peace | |
