1990s Prince Music given 2...

1990's period,

...entertainers/singers/musicians who were not a part of Prince's scene/bands-protges/camp(even if they used to be) or collaborated with.

So much unknown music Prince created 4, given 2 or purposed 4 someone else in the 1990s

I'm amazed I'm still learning of such music.

Can we each post a song or two, with background info, intentions, dates and such?
Help each other learn a thing or two

With This Tear

With this tear
I thee want
I long 4 u 2 talk 2 me like u did
That night in the restaurant

U spoke of love so openly
And again and again u promised me
That u'd never leave
But now u're gone

With this voice
I thee call
Sometimes I catch myself
Calling your name
When u're not there at all

Please tell me what I did wrong
Why must I hear your voice inside my head
All day and all night long
It's not fair

[Bridge]
[Ad-lib]

With these arms
I held u
When u told me u were dying
I had less courage it's true
And u wrote every day
Writing 'bout the things
That we could do
When your pain went away
But all that went away was u

With this tear
I thee want
I long 4 u 2 talk 2 me like u did
That night in the restaurant

With this tear
I thee want
I thee want
I thee want
I thee want

With this tear
I thee want
I long 4 u 2 talk 2 me like u did
That night in the restaurant U spoke of love so openly
And again and again u promised me
That u'd never leave
But now you're gone

Celine Dion (Front Cover)

With This Tear is the 13th track (twelfth song) on Celine Dion's 17th album (second English-language album) Celine Dion. The track was written by Prince, but was re-recorded by Dion's own musicians for release.

While specific recording dates are not known, initial tracking took place in January 1992 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA (during the same set of sessions that produced Born 2 B.R.E.E.D., In A Word Or 2, The Continental, Damn U, The Flow, 3 Chains O' Gold, Qualified and a revamped version of Sex). The song was initially intended for Jevetta Steele, but it is not known if she recorded a version of the track. It was submitted to Celine Dion soon afterwards, and she recorded her own version at some point between January and early March 1992, produced by Walter Afanasieff...

A POSITIVE PLACE

13zpe0m.jpg

Think from a positive positive place
And eliminate the negative base
Think from a positive positive place
And eliminate the negative base

If U think from a positive place
And try hard 2 eliminate the negative base
Then all the many colors runnin' round this world
Would create an unstoppable race
So come 2gether my brother and love one another
And let's make this a peaceful place
4 all the children 2 enjoy, every small girl and boy
This land we must not waste

CHORUS:
Think from a positive positive place
And eliminate the negative base
Think from a positive positive place
And eliminate the negative base
Think from a positive positive place
And eliminate the negative base
Think from a positive positive place
And eliminate the negative base

Negative is darkness, positive is light
Our communities are dying, the families are not tight
Parents get 2gether let's do this right (Let's do this right)
So our future is strong enough 2 win this fight

CHORUS

The enemy is darkness, God is light
Jealousy, envy, narrow-minded weary
Prejudice, bigotry, arrogance, leery
Vicious minds, soul unkind surely needs 2 feel thee

CHORUS
(Ooh, ohh) {repeat in background}

(New power, yeah)

(Clap your hands and stomp your feet) {"I No" sample} {fade out}
U want me 2 what?
(Clap your hands and stomp your feet)
Yo, what?

A Positive Place (often erroneously titled Eliminate The Negative) is an unreleased track completed in September or October 1990, at Larrabee Sound, Los Angeles, CA, USA during recording sessions for the New Power Generation maxi-single (during the same set of sessions as the N.P.G. (Funky Weapon Remix), T.C.'s Rap, Tony’s Iggnant Mix, Get Off, The Lubricated Lady, Loveleft, Loveright, a segue later included in the N.P.G. (Funky Weapon Remix), Oobey Doop, Play, Heaven Is Keeping Score, and additional recording on My Tree). It may have been tracked initially at an earlier date, but this has not been confirmed. The track continues directly from My Tree, and simply slows down the music of that track to create a different groove, underneath a rap by Robin Power. It was included as the tenth track (ninth song) on an October, 1990 configuration of the New Power Generation maxi-single, but was removed from the final release. The song remains unreleased.
