He's actually getting stuff done (that I think will be good for the estate long term). What have Tyka and Omarr done?

Once again Tyka and Omarr have not been listed as heirs the probate has not been closed so at this point the court is running things but all of the sibs have to agree to any deals so Omarr and Tyka must have been okay with these deals in order for them to go forward.

You realize that at some point all of the sibs will inheirit the estate and that these deals with Universal do have an end.

At this point, the presumed heirs have little control. Arguments just mean more hearings, more attorney fees and at some point the heirs need to realize they are costing themselves money. The tax bill comes first.

The decisions being made look like respectful, good ones.

I don't think there are villains involved. Except that Jubilant Judas who is obviously Cousins.

Not true the heirs have to agree in order for the court to allow the deals to go forward. Obviously they put the bickering aside and wanted to move forward. We have no idea what the terms are that could be getting a dime as a royalty rate but like I said these deals do have an end date and the family can do something else if they want to. Prince got rid of Cousins back at his divorce in 2006 so he can't be the Jubilent judas. They have made a payment on the taxes and the rest can be paid in installments. The media has completely blown that out of portion.

So a mod locks the other thread, and directs us to this thread with a completely misleading subject line (and misguided comments). SMH. disbelief

Here's the actual press release announcing today's deal:

http://www.prnewswire.com...04797.html

A good Billboard Magazine article about the deal:

http://www.billboard.com/biz/articles/news/record-labels/7685871/prince-estate-selects-universal-to-manage-npg-records

Another Billboard article, this time an interview with the much-maligned Londell McMillan and Charles Koppelman:

http://www.billboard.com/...l-mcmillan

i know, it's sad. it's like she's doing it on purpose now just to fuck up the news reporting.

sad

I noticed the PRNFamily twitter account hasn't tweeted anything about this UMG deal. I know they're busy on the Sheila E. cruise but they did have time to tweet other about things. It just makes me sad that they can't come together on some of this stuff. Stuff that I think is good for the health of the estate long term.

They complained to the judge about Londell's non-stop tweeting of estate business so maybe they are doing what he should be doing keeping quiet. They all had to agree on this in order for it to go forward so maybe they are taking a break and enjoying their cruise.

Idk. so like....on one hand I'm happy they finally settled on a company and I know bills and taxes need to get paid but....I feel like his music is about to get exploited in the worst way. Most of these people are businessmen and women who know nothing about music and certainly nothing about Prince's music outside of the popular stuff. They're about money. That's all they care about. Not the music/art. That's a major issue for me. A fan needs to be in charge of the vault and or an overseer. Cause this is bout to be a shit show. Nobody wants a prince cirque de soleil show. I don't want his music in random movies, shows or on corny/shitty commercials. Or just a bunch of random releases either. There's also a reason his music was only on Tidal.  music and the rest don't respect him or his legacy. His catalog is way more vast and has more quality than most musicians but they pay more for the Beatles than they would Prince. Just my 2 cents.

But this was an official press release from UMG. Why would they have to keep quiet about that? To me the silence means whomever is running that account doesn't agree with these deals. The website is listed in Omarr's name so I wouldn't be surprised if he owns the twitter account too. What do we know about Omarr and his relationship with Prince?

--I do not think they have to maybe they choose to do so. Omarr said at the LA that Prince taught him to tie his shoes, ride a bike, play basketball, and drive. He said he was like s father to him and Daivd the engineer said Omarr was enamored over with Prince. I got the impression from the movie the family made about Prince's philanthropic work that he really cared for his brother his eyes look red rimmed.

paraded

Could anyone clarify what they mean by "his albums after 1996 and unreleased songs," specifically the 'unreleased songs' part? Does Warner Bros. have some kind of control over the unreleased material recorded during his Warner Bros. contract and UMG everything unreleased after 1996? Or did UMG take control of ALL unreleased material dating back from the For You era? And does that mean that the possibility of special editions of his earlier recordings, which Warners still holds some rights to I believe, will face many more hurdles on the path to being created/released?
