Rave in2 the Joy Fantastic

I'm trying to fill some gaps in my collection and one of the albums I wanted to buy was "Rave in2 the Joy fantastic". There are a few on ebay but I'm a bit suspicious of them - they're listed as new, but presumably it had a very limited release? Was it widely bootlegged, does anyone know? If so, is it easy to spot originals?

Thanks all

--It was not a limited release it was is Arista records and had a full promotional campaign. Arista no longer exsist you may have to get a copy. Even the version on Tidal is not original CD but remixes and extended versions.

this album actually WAS a collection of remixes and extended version of the previous released rave Un2 the joy fantastic ... and arista had nothing to do with it ... just NPG music club.

No.

"Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic" was the remix album officially released and sold on factory pressed CDs directly by NPG Records.

There are 2 official versions of it, the regular and an early mispressed that has wrongly "Rave UN2 The Joy Fantastic" on the spine (I've got all 2).

Any cardboard box and/or digipack is a counterfeit, the original was in jewel case.

I'm not aware of possible "jewel case" counterfeit, sorry.

Bora's right. There are a slight few w/ a misprint of "Un2" on the "In2" remix CD. I think it's only on the spine though, right?

But in general, not hard to find. The tracklist is a dead giveaway, and it came in a jewel case, as noted. Not the plastic digipak/jewel case hybrid. His eyes are also different on In2. They're looking straight at you, whereas on Un2 they're looking down, I believe. In2 has "Beautiful Strange" on it, and Un2 doesn't.

It was sold only by NPG Records, not Arista (another major sign of a fake or the real one). They could very well be new on eBay. People buy stuff all the time for the sole purpose of reselling it brand new. It makes more money.

In2 is awesome and so worth tracking down for the long version of Prettyman alone. I like it much better than Un2...however there are some choice Un2 tracks missing, like Strange But True.

This is not factually correct, I was working in a high street big chain music store at the time of release and there was an official digipack release on the album chart shelves, I know because I naturally picked it up!

Below is all the info about the one I ref

That link takes you to the Un2 album. It's the In2 album that is being discussed.

Harps

Yep but be careful.

On ebay there are lots of fake versions being sold in slipcases. The price is a bit of a giveaway.

For an original, expect to pay upwards of 100 pounds!
