If Bruno inspired one kid to listen to a Prince record...

which I believe he did, it was worth it.

I had fun with it.

Bruno knows he isn't Prince, but you could see that he really wanted to do his best to pay tribute. He put a lot of work into that.

All the post mortum award show tributes are done now, we can move on.

Ironically, The Time sang two songs not written by Prince and didn't include Jesse, the dude that wrote them.

That was my biggest issue. Not Bruno.

Cause tomorrow is taking too long
and yesterday's too far away
and the reality that you believe in begins to bind.

I had so many mixed emotions watching Bruno's performance; cried the entire time; half being pisssed that someone else besides the MAN himself playing his song; the other half, happy to hear Bruno doing a good job and not ruining the song/tribute.

Thank you, Bruno! I still miss the one and only though.

yeahthat Nothing compares 2 prince

I think The Time and Bruno did a good job! Of course Bruno is not Prince - but there is no person that can fill Princes shoes!! This tribute and Sheila E's tribute have been the best! We cannot have "Prince Live" anymore!

Kudos to Bruno for doing a pretty good job tonight. At some points, it seemed like a Vegas tribute show, but Bruno was not bad. I'm glad there was no Purple Rain or Nothing Compares to You performance. The Time were ok, but something was missing.

These tributes really drive home the point that Prince made ALL of these songs/performances look so effortless. I miss the faces, the moves, the aura he just oozed. Sometimes knowing he is not there is still very hard to fathom, but his legacy will endure.

On a final note, the Google tribute (Nothing Compares to You) gave me goosebumps. Very nice job by Google.

I totally agree about the Google tribute. It was touching and sad, but very well done.

I think the best known song by Bruno Mars is "Uptown Funk". When the question was asked, if a movie was made about Prince - who could best play Prince - I said Bruno Mars.

Liked it a lot.

No, Bruno is not Prince. Never will be. But it was a tribute, and he did a great job.

They chose the right song for the occasion and it was a lot better than another cheesy version of Purple Rain.
I still prefer the Sheila E tribute musically, but, for this moment, Bruno was great

I clicked on an article about the tribute and sae this Bruno mars in sparkling purple holding a white cloud guitar. Thats the shit that sets me off. Im crying and I almost slammed my computer. I just cant take it and I dont see the purpose of someone impersonating Prince. Im not mad at Bruno, Im mad at the whole fucking industry.

Listening to these tributes just brings home the point that Prince was the glue that held everything together. It's not the same without him on stage. sad

So true, the man epitomized SO MUCH that we were spoiled by his presence all these years.

The one thing, I think, the tribute Bruno Mars has confirmed today is that Let's Go Crazy is an incredible song.

Whether you liked the performance or not, the song itself sounded/sounds still so superb.

What a man Prince was to put that collection of notes and chords into that sequence.

Magic.

Just watched it on YT...Good job - but it made me miss the one and only more than ever...As has been said above, it makes you realise just how bloody MAGNIFICENT P was; how effortless he made it all appear. He'll never be replicated, bless him.

It's one of my favorite Prince songs for sure. And one that shouldn't be messed with. It's perfect as is.

They won my heart beginning with Prince's voice. Did you hear the crowd ahhh? I enjoyed The Time and was glad that they were there. Wish they would have done the new song Over That Rainbow. Bruno Mars was fantastic. I love the purple suit, the guitar, the ruffled shirt, the dance moves, and I heard a couple I'd weak oowahs too. If he had tried the splits I might have LOL. It was a great tribute, not as good as Sheila's but in my opinion nothing could be. Thank you Grammys for making me smile!

If you have ever seen the video of Prince on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show singing "Rock and Roll Love Affair" - The first thing I said - Wow - he looks like Bruno Mars!!! I think That was one of the last times that Andy Allo performed with Prince. I like that video better than the video that was made for the song. Just my opinion.

Didn't come close to the BET tribute. That was the best by far. This was almost as bad as Madonna.

It was okay, I guess. I was hoping that The Time would have done "Get It Up". To me, THAT would have been a tribute from them to Prince. shrug Bruno was good, his eyeliner gave me the giggles, though. smile

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I think Bruno did a good job, as far as a tribute goes. Like someone said, Bruno is no Prince nor does he think he is, and he wasn't looking at this performance that way. And I could tell the energy was genuine & he was doing his best to capture the same energy that P did - whether he did or not, he wanted to do it, so I appreciated it. He obviously loves Prince and has been impacted by him, like many others, so I give him an A for effort. It felt genuine, unlike most tributes.

With that being said, I don't know if Prince would've loved it. I can't speak for him, nor can anyone else, but I'll say this much; I certainly think he would've appreciated it.

I know it obviously wouldn't have been possible, but a part of me wish that all of a sudden he came out and surprised us all and everyone lost their mind & this was all a hoax. Like I said, I appreciated the tribute, but like others said, he really was the glue that held it all together. It's not the same without him on that stage rocking it like only he can.
