I've read he always recorded the vocals alone. So intriguing.

Brand new boogie without the hero.

People tend to hate the song, but Prince's vocal acrobatics on "Solo" are very impressive.

Solo- this song blew me away the 1st time I heard it and it still does. I wish that they had left out any type of music as it's such a powerful vocal show

Still Would Stand All Time- I love how the song just builds to a vocal climax- like it's imitating having sex with someone, starting out slow, working your way up to more powerful heights, getting to the climax and then resting in quiet bliss

Damn U- I used to be able to do this song at karaoke but can't hit those high notes anymore. I had people come up to me afterwards and ask who sang the song and then look shocked when I would tell them it was Prince. Shocked because it's such a beautiful and lovely song and they only expect something sexy and racy from P.

How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore- P breaks my heart with this one. He really lays his heart out there for us all to hear the breakage it took.

Wow , great question. I would have to go with Purple Rain. Great range of octaves, plus, you can clearly hear the various changes in the tonality and vibrato as the track reaches its climax. I think he did all the backing vocals on that one too. Not sure.

All of these choices are great.

The vocals I have really been loving lately are his recording of Case of You, Revelation, and When she comes. Case of You impressed me because he seemed to understand the emotion of that song. Revelation and When she comes are impressive to me because he is a 56 or 57 year old man singing falsetto beautifully.

ALso impressive to me are the Bee-Gee like vocals of the single version of The Most Beautiful Girl in the world.

I also love SOmewhere Here on Earth and his deeper and rather soulful vocals in MOney Don't Matter Tonight.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Curious Child. First, I love that song, it's so outside the envelope of anything I've ever heard from him. But mostly I love it because his voice got this silky quality to it when he was around 40 and Curious Child is a perfect example of that.

Outside the studio, Motherless Child. Where did that voice even come from??
And the MUSIC continues...forever...
