Interesting article from the Star Tribune:

http://www.startribune.com/challenges-raised-in-hand-off-of-prince-estate/410513285/

Gives some insight on Tyka and Omarr's conerns and a little of what is going on behind closed doors.

From this Star Tribute article, there is this quotation from Londell McMillan:

“Prince was a loving, easy person to work with,” McMillan said. “Unless you went against his will, which drove his deals.”

--

Is it just me, or does it seem odd that Londell describes Prince as a "loving, easy person to work with." Prince was known to be controlling...how does that equal "easy to work with"?

Uhhm..the second part of that statement was that he also said "Unless you went against his will.."

And to me, the statements "easy to work with" and "unless you went against his will" are kind of contradictory. We all want to get our way, but some people have more of a wrath when things don't go their way than others. Prince was very controlling when it came to his work. People who are controlling tend to be difficult to work with, not easy to work with.

Lovejunky, I'm not going to get into an argument over the wording of Londell's statement. I will just say that perhaps we are interpreting the statements from different perspectives. I am not a huge fan of Londell's given some of the allegations about him being self-serving and wanting to take 10% of the money should be have a role with the estate. (I don't know how you feel about him.) Also, I am a special education teacher and I teach kids who have autism in a self-contained classroom setting. It is a common feature of children who have autism, particularly severe autism, that they don't like change and have difficulty with not getting their way. Many of my students want to have control over what do in the sense that many of them don't always like to engage in academic tasks and often dislike having to leave preferred items or activities. I mention my professional background because I think it may be influencing the way that I am reacting to Londell's statements and why I find the 2 parts to be contradictory.

I'm hoping we get full CD's of unreleased songs..not continuous " greatest hits" CD's with 1 " new" song in each one..

yeahthat

I'm no expert in the music business, but it would make sense to release unreleased material by date or by theme. For example, release all the unreleased material from 1986 or one session in 1986 or release an album of love songs. I would like to see concert footage, especially since I never had a chance to see Prince live.

But if one leaves a will, then one can designate which folks get the money and which do not. The fact that he did not leave a will is leading to more nonsense than would occur otherwise, especially as it pertains to who can inherit his fortune. All this nonsense from Rodney Dixon and Carlin Q. Williams and Claire would be null and void if there was a will....

I would love to see concert videos..I would buy them..I agree on releasing music in chronological order..but not 1 song at a time.

--- Wills can be contested and I think the crazy older sibs would have contested a will. Or sold their shares of the publishing to the highest bidder as soon as possible. Carlin and the rest are not going to get anything and would have claims disallowed will or no will as will do not stop making finacial claims.

It seems like Tyka (and Omarr) refused to be play for a fool and Londell is doing some damage control.

But I hope the judge will appointed someone who is more objective and have some industry experience.

thanks to all who is giving up-to-date info about this. this is the current court related stuff I care about. I don't care about the divorce records from ten years ago and I am avoiding that thread as much as possible.

I also see there are still some nuts such as Cousins and Claire just will never give up. Two Crazy Cs.

I only made it about 1/2 thru Van's testimony, but, IMO, the dude seems wrecked. Something is weird. Mumbling, emotional, WTF? He is vying for a leadership role, and A.) Your hotshot lawyer Phaedra sure didn't mention estate planning, now did she? Hence 50% of Prince's $$ going to TAXES. B.) Only 3 people in the room when Prince signed that Warner deal, you, Phaedra, and Prince? Why is that something to be proud of, sounds shady, frankly! And WHERE is this Warners contract? Where is the Tidal contract? Why you bragging in the clustermess? I know Van feels deep for Prince and is proud. But... not that impressive business-----
///Van is an attorney and Pheadra is a contract negotiator. Who else would you have in the room? It is business meeting not a birthday party. I also not did feel he was being emotional but maybe just keeping it real. Everybody is aware that taxes have to be paid but there is nothing wrong with looking down the road and continuing to support charities. The things that Londell is being accused of her very serious and should not be blown off because some of you do not like Van's politics. [Edited 1/13/17 1:30am] [Edited 1/13/17 4:18am]

"Jones came under additional criticism for his name appearing on a 2004 petition from 911Truth.org that suggested the Bush Administration "may indeed have deliberately allowed 9/11 to happen".[46][55] This accusation was particularly controversial, prompting conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer to declare that while other accusations against Jones were "trivial" this was "beyond partisanship."[56]

Jones immediately issued a statement saying, "I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever"[46][55] and later clarified that he had never signed the 911Truth petition.[57]

On July 27, 2010, the group 911truth.org released a statement confirming that they had "researched the situation and were unable to produce electronic or written evidence that Van agreed to sign the Statement".[58]

Well Van is saying he will not charge the estate anything so what is he going to gain. Do you think Londell is better? Since we now have proof he was doing unethical and illegal things with the estate money.

I dont understand this at all 1Sasha

What the Estate needs now more than anything is Peace and Harmony amongst the siblings...

Once this is achieved things can move forward with great speed and precision.

Van loves Prince, worked with him for long time, is known to the family and is very good at getting people to see both sides of an argument.

Point in Case his Documentary style series, The Messy Truth where he manages to facilitate open discussion between Trump and Clinton supporters, without arguments or ill feelings.

This speaks Volumes about the Man...That he gives enough of a SHit to Unite people despite their opposing mood of "Party Spirit"

In my mind If Van gets involved I will feel a lot more at ease about a lot of stuff thats going down at the moment.

He has carried himself with grace and dignity all the way...
