Some love for 20ten

I can't believe his fans dislike 20TEN so much. Of course, it's not SOTT or PR, but 20ten has at least 5 great tracks:

Beginning Endlessly

Future Soul Song

Sticky Like Glue

Lavaux

Sea Of Everything

I would give it 7/10 only for these songs.

Futuresoul song is possibly his best song of the Post 2000 period. It is perfect sexified and pop Prince. Compassion and Beginning Endlessly are also great, however the rest is mixed. Act of God is cringeworthy and lets face Everybody loves me, is a joke right? Prince was fucking with us. Still overall it is a solid post 2000s album, and does not deserve all the shit it gets here. My opinion, as I even defend Planet Earth too - its great Fuck u!

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Yes, Everybody Loves Me is a joke, but I don't mind him making jokes if the rest of the album is good. This album is kinda hard to get, but when I finally did, I could only think the same as TKO: why all the hate? It's a fun, light weight pop album with some very funky grooves. Sticky-Act of God-Lavaux is an excellent trio of danceable pop tunes.. I even like Walk In Sand. And I'll always remember him opening the third night of the North Sea Jazz Festival with Laydown. He also played Future Soul Song that night. Who says Prince only played the old hits?!

I love every track except #1 & #9. Super strong album in my opinion, goes down very easy. I wish it was longer, but the brief length keeps it on repeat for me. Faves are Walk In Sand love & Sea of Everything biggrin I hate that I heard it so late (this year!!) & the lack of a US release!! sigh

Laydown is awesomely fun - I'd include it in the list of great tracks from this album.

Sticky Like Glue is as good as any of his major hits from his prime era...

It's not as bad as people say, but neither are NPS and MPLSound either. "Laydown", "Sticky Like Glue" and "Beginning Endlessly" are the onmyl tracks from 2010 I'd consider putting in a mix. "Everybody Loves Me" is one of the worst tracks he's ever recorded.

I love that album and some of the songs he took back to his funk roots. I also thought he made that album for his 80s fans and I remembered when it came out people on here didn't like it at all.

OMG! "Sticky Like Glue" is one of my favorite Prince songs ever! Why oh why wasn't this song played non stop on the radio? It should have been huge! Only Prince can give you an album that's not your favorite but still has at least one song that's on your all time favorite list ever. lol

Think it is one of his most enjoyable albums of his post-80s catalogue. Easy to play repeatedly in the car! I, for one, think Sea of Everything is perhaps the best of the songs that are his most hated ones here. It is such an amazing melody and sung with such a beautiful voice. I get why some of hiss other songs are trashed (though I often don't agree), but truly don't get the hate for this one. Love Beginning Endlessly, Sticky, and Future. Compassion and Lavaux not far behind. Lay it down was a harbinger to HnR1.

I love 20ten, what a great thread!

Compassion makes me smile, Laydown makes me shiver and walk different if I'm listening to it on my phone, Beginning Endlessly gets into my head and will. not. go. away. Future Soul Song is...well it's just...almost too much for me sometimes. I talk back to Sea of Everything, makes me look crazy in public, but I'm cool with that.

Everybody loves me makes me giggle. I always remember the first time I listened to it. I made my Tory (Conservative Party) friend go buy the Daily Mail for me that day so I could have it. I just couldn't do it, even for Prince. We listened to it together and he turns to me finally during Future Soul Song and says, 'hey Prince really is good isn't he?' He'd apparently not listened to any Prince since Purple Rain and we had a fun time going through things he'd never heard...Prince made a convert that day and he's the only one that has continued to allow me my space to mourn in the real world. But conversion, I do think that may have been a goal for 20ten's weird release, maybe, I mean Act of God and Everybody Loves Me I think they're deliberate, and of course teasing us--being tongue in cheek...and really who did tongue in cheek better than His Royal Badness.

I love it. It's perfect when played straight through, and at maximum volume. To me, it's a true ALBUM, rather than a collection of songs.

Hugely under-rated IMHO. 'Beginning Endlessly', 'Lavaux' and 'Sticky Like Glue' to name just three are outstanding Prince tracks regardless of era.

Much of what creates perception around a record is shaped by the press, and Prince's unconventional methodology here shaped that response; particularly here in the UK. Objectively, I love this album.

My favorite songs on it are:

Walk in Sand

Sticky Like Glue

Future Soul Song

Laydown

The rest is not really my cup of tea but every song has some details that I like except for "Everybody Loves Me" , which was not my kind of song at all but that´s perfectly fine because even his classic albums contained the odd one or two songs I don´t like.

Four songs I really like makes 20Ten a solid album in my opinion. The same goes for other Prince albums that are not that popular among fans. If I like at least four songs on an album then that album can´t be considered bad at all.

The thing I like about his rather less known albums is that I appreciate that he finally had the freedom to release whatever and whenever he wanted, unlike in his heyday when WB would dictate him what he could release and what not.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

It's the best song on the album and should have been a single with an extended version as b-side smile

FUTURE SOUL SONG and STICKY LIKE GLUE is hands down the best songs on the album...

Everything else is average... As a matter of fact those two songs fall in my T0P 10 list of best PRINCE songs in the 00's.

He wanted one of the tracks pulled at the last minute, but alas it'd gone to press. Does anyone know which one?

I love it, too! Definitely one of my favorite Prince albums in recent years. Here's hoping his estate will finally get to release it as a proper album in the US soon.

I loved the album the second it came out, but would skip over songs like Act of God and Lavaux. It was only until recently that I realised what funk gems they are!
