Would HITnRUN Phase 3 have been released by now?

Based on the timing between Phase 1 & 2, what is your opinion on whether HITnRUN Phase 3 would have seen a release by now? Based on the @prince twitter acc header artwork, it would presumably have featured the Lovesexy era inspired vector art. And if so...what tracks do you feel would have been included?

Good question

I'm thinking that, based on the last known release (I think) Free Urself, that it'd be a return of the Minneapolis sound. Assuming that'd be on the album.

So that Phase 1 would be future looking. Phase 2 - mid 80's Prince. Phase 3 - back to the Minneapolis sound

If Eye Could Get Your Attention would have been a candidate for that album too, I think.

RIP sad

What'a the difference between mid 80s Prince and the Minneapolis sound?

Mid 80s Prince was ATWIAD, Parade and SOTT -- far away from the Minneapolis sound.

Early 80s - DM, Controversy, 1999 are MPLS sound. Even Purple Rain was veering away from it a bit.

OK, well that'd be mid-late 80s. I was thinking mid 80s, 1983-1987, the earlier portion of which would certainly be MPL Sound. Live/rehearsals from the Parade/SOTT era are still very much MPL Sound to me.

from what I've gathered there wasn't going to be a "Phase 3" . P was working on an album with the working title "Black is the New Black" from what I understand. Ruff Enough and Free Urself I believe both were planned to be on it. Adrian Crutchfield has talked some about these sessions.

I was under the impression that these were 2 separate albums slated for release.

.

I remember at the time Prince was throwing around a few ideas.

.

As the last 5 decades have proven, Prince ideas don't necessarily mean a final project ends up being released.

.

I kind of felt at the time Phase 3 and Back Is The New Black were kind of two projects but also kind of merging as a single project.

.

Let's not forget that around this time Prince did confirm the Piano And Microphone tour would be released. I only hope it was progressed to a configuration with draft artwork so that Prince's wishes could be followed through.

.

sad lol

They were working on removing the more distracting audience noise the week he died - which could mean there was a tracklist decided. Or not!
