LOVE lovesexy fashion. that was my first concert, and i wore a purple and black blazer with black biker shorts on which i had sewn my name down the side in big white letters.

If I had to chose one tour that I didnt see, but wish I had, it would be Lovesexy. What a show!

If I had to chose one tour that I did see, that I was glad I did above all others: One Night Alone

The Lovesexy tour was STUNNINGLY GOOD.

it was SO GOOD. it was the last - in my opinion - proper "stage" show with amazing props and sets!

My number one fave of all time. Is the Lovesexy exhibit open at Paisley yet? I got a VIP tour for my birthday, but I don't want to go until it's ready.

That particular exhibit is not open yet, but should be soon.

Lovesexy was the very best Prince tour up to this point in his groundbreaking career.

That band was AMAZING!

Interestingly, I've been listening to Lovesexy live performances for the past two weeks. It's definitely one of my favorite tours, along with the Musicology Tour, Dirty Mind/Controversy Tours, and the Sign "O" the Times Tour.

short version - we found the club he & cat went to after the concert. it was EMPTY. they were in a roped off corner. i saw him get up to leave, i got up, tiptoed across the dancefloor, down the stairs and out onto the sidewalk. he was helping cat into the back of the van, and i just stood there. he looked at me, like, are you going to say anything? and i was completely dumbstruck. then a few more ppl came running out of the club and he got in the van.

Check out the MTV News segment of Prince's Lovesexy tour.

It's a bit grainy, but still worth watching.

I was 16 when LoveSexy came out and I loved it. My husband, who was 20 at the time and is a musician, says that he and all his musician friends didn't like it at all. The album cover had nothing to do with it. They thought the music was weak, the execeptions being When 2 R in Love and Anna Stesia. They thought all the other songs were silly and an embarassment to Prince. I need to note that he and his friends back then were all major Prince fans, but this album was a fail to them.

Yeah as a fanatic who loved SOTT and Black Album, Lovesexy was a big disappointment on first listen to a lot of peeps I knew... but... I kept re-listening to try to get it.

Yes it was/is special. Not to brag about anything, but from the fairly long list of major music acts I was able to witness live on stage over the years, the Dortmund Lovesexy show was -by far- THE best show ever. The sound, the band, the music, the stage, the atmosphere: everything was perfect. No ther act I've seen since then was able to top this performance. Not even P himself, BTW... cool

Wow rob1965, I can feel the energy and excitement from everyone just watching that show and every time I watch it, I am like damn I wish I was in that audience! You are so blessed! This show is the one I always go back to and love every bit of it. I know a lot of people back then didn't get Lovesexy and the cover confused many. But the people at the Dortmund show seemed to get it that is for sure!

The Lovesexy album is one of my favorites I love the different direction it took Prince and the vibe it has. I loved that Prince took chances and I feel it paid off. Yeah it may not have catered to the masses and won popularity votes, but that is a sad loss to many.

+++

I love the music, love the band with Sheila E., love the clothes, love Prince's hair ala Amadeus with the curls, love the positivity, love the love, love the funkiness, love the badness. Love it all!

You haven't seen SOTT from the first row...
The movie somewhat resembles the experience, it was that good.

As much as I love the Lovesexy Tour, I have a preference for the spontaneity of the Hit'n'Run Tour.
The stage in the center of the arena was a bold move, but it resulted in Prince turning his back on you for a good part of the show.

But conceptually, it was great. The Camille / Spooky Electric duel, "Bob George" seguing into "Anna Stesia"... Even if one could argue that the duality depicted lacks the rock'n'roll attitude of the PR Tour : "I'm sorry! I'll be good!... Do U wanna take a bath?"

Lovesexy was a state of grace. What I love the most is the guitar playing. The "Blue Angel" era produced the most original, personal, extraordinary guitar work. There is no distinguishable influence, nothing you can compare it to. The "Anna Stesia" overdubs, Dortmund's "The Cross" solo, not to mention the astounding "Small Club" ("Rave" is impressive as "Just My Imagination").

This is not music, this is a trip.
