HnR2 Songs in order of preference HitnRun2 was a pleasant surprise to me when I first got it, and my positive assessment remains after the test of multiple listens. Despite the different time periods the songs were written and recorded, the brassy arrangements and the generally mature attitude made it one of my favorites in recent years. I especially thought the last three songs ended the album on such an impressive note. Reading other comments about it here on the org has revealed that this is not a universal assessment of it. So, please share your opinion by RATING THE HnR2 SONGS IN ORDER OF PREFERENCE. Here's mine: 1. Revelation - One of my top 20 Prince songs 2. Black Music - One of my topo favorites since the 80s - showed his maturity and creativity. 3. Groovy Potential 4. Xraloveable 5. Big City 6. Stare 7. Rock and Roll Love Affair 8. Baltimore 9. When She Comes 10. 2Y 2D (great music, lyrics sort of creepy if another 57 year older was singing them) 11.Look at Me, Look at You - Pretty music, sort of bland. 12. Screwdriver - Too sophomoric of a chorus for this record - okay in concert.
As I arranged these I realized how many of the middle (4 to *)were hard to differentiate: I like them all and especially like the arrangements.

1. Revelation - Just incredible, an aural experience 2. Black Muse - very funky and very classy, music with a message meets a jazzy breakdown. 3. Stare - Under rated masterpiece, catchy, funky and sexy single 4. Groovy Potential - Love it 5. 2Y2D - Sexy pop strut and daring vocals, a treat when he played it in concert. 6. When she comes - More classic sex vibe, this was his sexiest album since the 90s 7. Look at me, look at u - More sexy and he is dressing her down with his eyes! 8. Rocknroll love affair - These tracks are all very good. Songs 5 - 8 are all pretty much equal. 9. Screwdriver - Nice driving rock song 10. Big City - Jazzy and brassy 11. Baltimore - decent song 12. Xtra Loveable- Just don't like it, too processed and the erotic shcok value of the original was sucked out of it. . Marks - 1 and 2. 10/10, 3 and 4. 9½/10, 5 - 8. 9/10, 9. 8½/10, 10 and 11. 8/10, 12. 5/10. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name | |

Wow, almost opposite of mine I don't like extraloveable in any form. I find the original boot nearly unlistenable, it has never had any resonance with me. For what it's worth, the hitnrun version is my favourite version of the song and the version with the 'elmo' rap by Andy allo is easily the worst. But like I always say, this is the beauty of prince. One persons junk is another ones treasure and it's why I'm always glad that emancipation was released as it was and not edited down to a single disc. RIP | |
