Go to song when you need your spirits lifted?

What would all of y'all say is a Prince song that you tend to go to most when you need a pick me up?

For me I'd have to say it's Mountains. That song brings me such joy! It's so positive and bright.

Admission is easy, just say you believe and come to this place in your heart... <3

There are soooo many uplifting Prince songs...it´s impossible for me to give you a full list....but these are just a few off the top of my head that have helped me through some really dark times:

1. Strays of the World....one of my favorite songs and such an underrated gem. This should have been the closing song on the Come album like it was originally planned to be. Whenever you feel lonely or lost and need a boost, just crank up the volume on your headphones and listen to this masterpiece. Morris Hayes loved this song when he first heard Prince´s solo version, and I love it, too. Most fans love to diss it and think it´s similar to Three Chains of Gold but I strongly disagree.

-

2. Anna Stesia ...... I think this one needs no explanation. I´m sure that this song has saved many lives, and I think Prince knew it, too.

.

3. Free... I have always loved this song and always will. There are a few lines in it that I listen to rather skeptically, but still.....I love this song !

.

4. Power Fantastic. Works a bit like Anna Stesia to me, and deals with loneliness, too, albeit differently. I wish he had played this song a bit more often. One of the few times he did play it was at Paisley Park in 2002. I was there but Matt and I and Ben (the prince.org founder) and basically all fans were told to go outside due to an AC malfunction, and when we were let in again he had already finished playing the song. To this day, I still regret not having heard it in full. Some of my all time favorite lyrics.

-

5.The Sacrifice of Victor. This song gave me a positivity boost in 1992. Great lyrics. I love how he wrote a biographical, uplifting, motivational song and gave us a little history lesson at the same time. This song has a special place in my heart, and as the years go by, I appreciate it even more.

.

6. Everywhere. I know that TRC gets a lot of flak because of some of the controversial lyrics but this is one of the most uplifting songs of the past 16 years. Sure, the lines about "the truth" are controversial but the high energy, uplifting mood, great intro and superb drumming by John Blackwell and sheer joy cannot be denied. I love this song !

.

7. Something in the Water, ( instrumental rehearsal Miami 1985, Purple Rain tour finale)

I love this song in all its various incarnations, from album version to the many drastically different sounding versions he played over the years during different shows but this instrumental version sometimes literally brings tears to my eyes as soon as the guitar solos begin. Many regard the "Small Club" Just My Imagination guitar solo as one of his best and most touching, others think the RRHOF solo during While My Guitar Gently Weeps was the best ever (though I am honestly not that much of a fan of that one) , and some others would say Joy in Repetition but for me, the guitar solos in this rehearsal version are like an instant mood lifter, an instant anti-depressant. I am not a guitarist and don´t really know anything about technique, nor do I have any idea if this solo was technically great, and yes, maybe his guitar skills were much more refined and better in his later years but this version is the epitome of what I love about Prince as a guitarist. This is a quintessential Prince guitar solo to me. It´s so uplifting and yet so bittersweet.

This version is like a drug, like medicine, like aural happiness.

People of the world, go and listen to this version. You will see what I mean once you´ve listened to it. But beware.....you´ll get addicted to it. Have I already told you how much I love this version?

.

8. Let´s Go Crazy I think this one is self-explanatory. wink

.

.

.

This was just off the top of my head. There are dozens and dozens of other uplifting Prince songs.

And for that, I will be eternally grateful.

I miss Prince´s presence on this planet. Our healer is gone.

"Let´s Go Crazy" edit wink How could i forget the most important one? wink

Really great list! Some current go to songs for me are

--"She loves me 4 me" (he really sounded like he was in love when he wrote this one...that makes me smile)...

---"Better with Time" (under-rated in my opion, beautiful ode that also sounds heart-felt),

---"Let's Go Crazy (extended) " (this has always been a go to song for me... this is one of those songs I can never turn off once it starts... amazing guitar solos, sweet breakdown... and the build up at the end cappd off with"take me away" ...oh my...that's perfection!!).

Others that come to mind r "endorphinemachine," " vicki waiting (the extended version)," "lrc", and "soft and wet."

So many amazing songs and moments... thank u Prince!!

Lately... "Big City". It reminds me of something like "It's About That Walk" or "The Rest of My Life".

"I Wanna Be Your Lover" is always a favorite. It's so simple, fun, bops around at its own pace and you best keep up.

"Gold" is a must-have.

"eye don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."

Any version. Live, video, etc.

And it makes me cry, but in a good way, the best way possible.Dunno why. It just does.

I think P is saying some French, there. I always understood P to say "Good Love...partout".

Partout is French for "everywhere".
