.

i gotta say it's quite an enjoyable listen. i'm better for having listened to it for the last month in the car. i recommend it to all. would have been interesting to hear the songs as the finished product if he felt inclined to go through with the album.

.

oh well, madhouse 8 was perfect anyways.

PS: Princevault omits to say that the album was edited and compiled by Eric Leeds at Prince's request, not by Prince himself (Leeds only revealed this quite recently IIRC).

Are we sure that's the leaked version? Would have liked a version edited by Prince.

I have been listening to this on a regular basis after I finally obtained a copy months ago. I should've added this to my top 5 list on the other post. Love it.

I love it, Prince on drums that wild druming he does. He isn't tight, but he is on point lol

I love that I can add Junk Music to my Parade/Under the Cherry Moon playlist

Absolutely adore Up From Below

Prince on drums, Sheila E & Jonathon Melvoin drumming/percussions, Levi Seacer jr -bass, Wendy Melvoin -guitar, Eric Leeds -sax Lisa Coleman -piano/keyboards

There aren't that many tracks on the original EP.

Side 1: Junk Music

Side 2: Up From Below, Y'all Want Some More, A Couple Of Miles

That's it. The other stuff has been added by fans or whatever to fill out a bootleg CD. The most common addition is "U Gotta Shake Something". However, at one point "High Colonic" was considered, as well as a lot of "Groove" type named songs, and some other stuff throughout 1986.

It's not really meant to compete with Madhouse, because it predated it. Madhouse has a different sound, to me, than The Flesh did.

A nice clean version of The Flesh leaked in 2014 or so. It was splendid to hear.

yeah, i didn't mean to infer it sounds like madhouse. it's just that for whatever reason he shelved the flesh project and went with the madhouse project as a released product, which i like better anyways. madhouse 8 stayed playing in my car for 3 or 4 months. i couldn't let it go.

.

the only song that sounded remotely like it could have fit into the madhouse 8 album was the song A Couple Of Miles.

.

i'm just happy i got the chance to listen to all this great unreleased music.
