A "newer" Prince fan's perspective on unreleased Prince music

Check out this "newer" Prince fan's perspective regarding unreleased Prince music, the 4ever album, etc.

https://m.youtube.com/wat...5W_DQu_NAo

Again, it's great to know that there are and will be many generations of Prince fans/fams impacted and inspired by Prince!

Hopefully, the org can become a welcoming space for all of them.

"Computer blue" not Blues. "Alpha street"??? I don't know why, but that was bothering me LOL!

Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

He's on the right path though. I think those songs will be embedded in his brain soon enough. Prince does that to people. This is how it all starts and then Prince blows your mind. missile

He had a good point that the extended songs should have been on 4ever, but I'll support whatever the estate does.

Future NPG; Girard College Lower School Band and Choir do an absolutely wonderful performance of the song's 'Starfish & Coffee' (what I like to call 'The Muppets Mix') and 'Let's Work'. The latter being about knuckling down and striving to do your best (ok, it's about sex too but those kids can figure that one out later on in life!), and the former being an empathetic song about someone with a learning disability. Two great choices from their music teacher. Total inspiration.

Now fast forward to this newbie and his rant about 'Prince4ever'. Yes, we all know this greatest hits package is a shambles and could have been so much better, but using a term like 'retarded' a couple of times to describe his thoughts on it is even more disappointing, and is just not getting what Prince was all about. I'm sure the people from Autism Rocks, the Special Olympics and all those involved and who witnessed Prince's free concert at Gallaudet College back in the 80's will agree with me when I say that I'd rather he wasn't a Prince fan at all. He should go follow 50 Cent instead; he seems to have the same views as him. Inspiration lacking.

I agree that his use of the word "retarded" is unfortunate, but a lot of people are unaware that it is a pejorative. Perhaps someone will leave him a comment explaining that the word is offensive and is no longer acceptable in modern usage. He probably should have stopped with the first video. That said, I think he means well. Listening to Prince music and learning about his works will hopefully help to make this young man better.

I'm sure he is aware some people find the word retarded offensive and still used it. His right. Just as others have the right to be offended. The system works.
