HONESTLY....NOT trying to start a fight here, honest question. May I ask what you meant by the statement "lying to your kids being healthy"?....or did I misunderstand you. Again....NOT looking for a fight. Please don't flame me!

Olivia: You are so right. Jesus is the reason for the season!! A lot of people seem to forget what the true meaning of Christmas is all about.

Olivia, PLEASE, I am NOT looking for a fight here either, just a question and if you do not feel like responding, please do not. I would rather you not respond than take offense and blast me. If this offends, I am sorry to have done so!

As someone who has never celebrated Christmas, may I ask what the true meaning of Christmas is? Is your statement "the reason" or "your reason" ?

I mean, those that believe that Jesus was a real person who walked this Earth (I personally do) can or do we all agree that he was NOT born in December?

And if he wasn't, I would think he would want people to at least have the date correct and not have this celebration of his birth linked in anyway to a "pagan" date/celebration. Then again, to the best of my recollection there is no mention of Jesus or his parents/family celebrating his birth that I know of. The only thing I think he (Jesus) celebrated were Weddings and then of course what he commanded people to celebrate, which was his Death.

Yes, Christianity stole all the Pagan holidays and tried to turn them into Christian holidays, that's right.

Think I'd rather have the Paganism than the fucking scum-bucket that is the church. Nothing more than a men's club built to control the masses while feeding its own egos, libidos and bank accounts.

The church can fuck off every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Any denomination.

They basically have nothing to do with God or Jesus. Jesus was a man who said 'love one another', sounds like a pretty great dude. The church? Bickering, fighting, persecuting, murdering and molesting century after century? They can suck it - something they're well accustomed to.

Give me Santa Claus any day of the year, and twice on Christmas.

And don't give me any of that bullshit about 'telling your kids about Santa Claus is lying to them'. There's a difference between lying to your kids and maintaining a healthy belief that there's more to life than meets the eye.

Anyway, Christmas and Santa - good.... Church - bad. Simple.

Did I miss something? confuse//// I'm not sure who is asking what but here's my answer. CHRISTmas is the celebration of our Savior Jesus Christ being born into to world. It has nothing to do with any thing pagan. Do you know when Jesus was born? [Comment deleted - langebleu - moderator] Rainbows are a sign from God that the earth will not be flooded again. Seriously... Guys... Who gives a fuck whether or not a dead rock star did or did not like a particular Christian feast with obvious pagan origins? If you like Christmas, enjoy it! If you don't, try to ignore it (even though that will be hard)!

I got snipped and warned even though I didn't use profanity or insult anyone but what I was saying is rainbows do not stand for gay pride. You can say it does but you would be wrong. The creator of rainbows says they stand for something else. Christmas is about Christ.

I thought it was common knowledge that he didn't celebrate holidays, nor his birthday.

Like I said way way above,it seems Prince had issues with Christmas way before he joined the JWs . ( Now that we are back on subject)

I just realized also, that besides the very emotional song Another lonely Christmas, Prince also has those other two very emotional songs about December. neutral

StopIt

These child prodigies are so emotionally damaged, it's f**ked and sad.

He got to experience Nothing through the eyes of his own either, so yeah, being dealt that hand equals a most shi*ty outlook (if those thoughts of his were even true, and/or more than fleeting, and/or not just for attention.)

i feel that he did in-joy Christmas, at one time.

He sent out Christmas cards in 1985 or 1986. I can't find mine but I received two cards that year from Prince. Each had a blue background with a Christmas tree decorated on the front - drawn tree not a pic. Inside, if I remember correctly, the message in red was, Love God, Prince.

When I finnd the card someday, I will take a snapshot of it and post. I feeks like K2 sent some of the cards out.

I swear I read on Facebook that Prince gave Tamron Hall Christmas gifts. I don't know how people know that - if she mentioned it in an interview or something. I know a number of his band members were/are religious so I'm assuming they probably celebrate Christmas. I know some band members have talked about how healthy they ate when around him but I don't remember any of them saying he tried to get them to give up meat. My guess is even though he didn't celebrate his birthday or Christmas he didn't really ever try and talk others out of celebrating.

Like Rogifan said; although Prince did not celebrate his own Birthday or Christmas, he did not stop other's from enjoying their celebrations. I'm sure he gave out Birthday and Christmas cards to those he cared about, but it doesn't meant that he celebrated the holidays.

I never believed in Santa....my mother wouldn't have it. I was the kid in school who got in trouble for making all the other kids cry from telling them that there is no such thing.

My mom said she never wanted me to believe that there was some kindly, fat, old white man giving me ANYTHING and that everything I got was a gift from her that she worked hard to provide because she loved me.

Thanks Mom!!!

Now there's black Santa wink

But I share your sentiment - I don't want to lie to my children either. I still remember how upset I was when I learnt the truth.
