I was always disappointed that there weren't more exclusive CDs at the store, though it was pretty cool getting Gold Nigga (not the version with "Guess Who's Knockin" though) from there.

I remember walking in there in 1993 and having a coffee or something. They played a live version of "Endorphin Machine" and two fanatics (like me) were sitting at the next table and were singing along to the "press one for the money..." break. My friends (non-fanatics) were groaning.

there were also two sarcastic non fans in there looking at stuff, and they were going through the interactive and laughing when Prince's head pops up through that vase. They said some very typically dry but hilarious comment, then looked around and... "sorry."

I didn't buy anything. Regretted it, and then one year later had a friend go buy Gold Nigga and Exodus and bring them back to me. So I have that early eidtion with the song "Guess Who's Knockin"

They got that version from the shop?!? I lived around the corner from the shop and went in there pretty much every day and never saw that version sad

It's possible my friend got it from Tower Records or something. But I remember telling her to go there to the NPG store (I was in Austin, Texas).

I went to the shop a couple of times. Wasn't impressed with it to be honest and was more excited by the boots I picked up from a little stall in Camden market.

I always found it amusing that fans NEVER mentioned the bootlegs they had clearly purchased that same day, when they visited the store. I bet nobody told him about those stalls when they came up with idea of opening in Camden.
