Prince Songs with the BEST Introductions!?

My current favourite has to be 'She's Always in My Hair'. That introduction is so funky, so powerful, so bloomin' CATCHY - I just play it over and over again, lol!
.
Second favourite: '17 Days' - I know this might sound odd, but the combination of bass and drums - well, it's CHEWY!!! I don't know how else to put it, other than it makes me want to chew on it. eek
.
What are your favourites - just a couple - that make your hair stand on end, send prickles down your spine, and make your heart pound?
.

Even though the words "oh yeah" might be the corniest ever in the history of rock & roll, I still nominate Sign O' the Times.

Lots of mine have already made the list. I'll add:

The Question of U - just so unique and vampy
7 - the a cappella, with all of those interesting harmonies
Gett Off - definitely catches your attention and makes you wonder what's going on

Art Official Cage makes me feel like it's time to run onto a Superbowl field. lol Not sure if that's the effect he was going for!

So many great ones but the one that sticks out to me is "The 1 U Wanna C". Not sure why, but it grabs me.

Dibblekins, I know EXACTLY what you mean by "chewy"! That's how I feel about "Vavoom"!

Though I can't argue with any others listed here, it's gotta be Kiss for me.

It's just barely more than one second long and is unmistakable.

My mom was laughing at me because we were leaving the casino and all I had to hear was that first sound in Erotic City and I lost it. Knew what it was without question lol

FUNKNROLL: Every single time it starts, it grows! Joyfully out of control! Let the souls in the room melt in One Soul! Definitely one of His finest tune ever. Really.

At the risk of being cheeky, I'd love to know WHY you have chosen the intros that you have...What is it about them that gets you?
.
Thanks so much in advance - I'm going through each of them, to establish if they have a similar effect on me, you see! The learning never stops, you know... wink

So many amazing introductions!! I have to agree with a number of the posts above... I could listen to the introductions for Little Red Corvette and Erotic City all day on repeat!! (and I have often hit the rewind/ back button on both songs just for that reason!) Also love Raspberry Beret extended (especially the cough on..). I usually think of Affirmation I & II as the introduction to Way Back Home (and that intro is so beautiful and mind-blowing at the same time). I also really love the introduction to New Power Generation ("Lay Down Ur Funky Weapon").

Oh yeah, also the start and stop of Irresistible Bitch! I also like to think of For You as not only the introduction to the album, but to Prince's whole career...so that would probably be my answer for the all time BEST intro!! biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin

oh my gosh one of the most unanswerable questions ever.

nearly every tune he ever wrote falls into that category 4 me.

prince is the unchallenged master of foreplay *ahem* introduction whistling

beside the obvious and the already listed the come 2 my mind ...

the ride
the cross
right the wrong
forever in my life
the word
golden parachute
the daisy chain
sticky like glue
jack u off
the future
cream
DMSR
welcome to the dawn
the truth
crucial
u got the look
pheremone
thieves in the temple
te amo corazon
incense and candles
colonized mind
....
never forget violet!

WHY? because prince is the unchallenged master of foreplay lol
distinctive ... enganging ... I'm into it b4 he even started ... he simply knows how to get u

the only love there is is the love we make heart
