Prince Singing Voice

Just listened to "Motherless Child" - still running around in my head. I'm curious of how he managed to have such a wild vocal range and seem to never have trouble with his voice.

I never heard my Princey hit a foul note and he always sang identical to the records. What an amazing gift, and I have long believed there was something magical going on between God and Prince regarding his vocalese.

Quite often I think live Prince took his live vocal even further

Everything he did seemed to come so easy to him. He was truly blessed.

It helped that he wasn't a smoker. I'll never understand how someone who sings for a living would choose to ruin their voice that way. Disgusting.

This thread reminds me, I was listening to an interview he did around the time "Dirty Mind" came out and at that point all his albums featured him singing in falsetto pretty much. The interviewer asked him why he always sang in falsetto and his answer was that it hurt to sing in a lower register.
