Prince jamming / recording with "outside" musicians?

For those in the know a question to you - did Prince ever invite other musicians into the studio and jammed or recorded with them, without his normal band? I do not mean his protegee singers, or Lenny Kravitz / Miles Davis / Bilal... what I mean is for example a jazz or funk or rock outfit, or some blues players, and then leaving his normal band at home. So not "Prince and his usual band + X" but Prince plus group of "outside musicians". Or maybe a supergroup including Prince (e.g. the ensemble playing "While my guitar gently weeps" at one of these awards shows - but in the studio...)

I guess an example from another artist would be Norah Jones teaming up with Billy Joe Armstrong (singer of Green Day), and their recording of an old Everly Brother album (Foreverly). Although in this case it is two famous musicians collabroating...

Maybe Prince playing with the 3rdEyeGirls is what I mean - but of course they became his band...

So, is there a likelyhood of anything like this coming out of the vault? Prince playing rhythm guitar with a jazz outfit biggrin

.

By the standards of what you are asking for, this may be a woefully underfed example, but:

.

On October 20, 1986, thirteen days after the disbanding of the Revolution (and three days after the breakup was announced to the press), fulfilling an obligation previously arranged, Prince and Wendy appeared as Special Guests on stage during performances of 'Hero Takes a Fall' and 'Manic Monday', at the Bangles concert held at The Palace Theatre (now known as The Avalon) in Hollywood, CA.

.

(They had made an earlier guest appearance together at the Bangles concert at The Warfield Theatre in San Francisco, CA, on May 14, 1986.)

.

After the Palace show, the Bangles joined Prince and Wendy at Sunset Sound for a jam session said to have run several hours, lasting into the early morning.

.

This is the last known actual studio appearance for Wendy Melvoin with Prince, and the only occasion on which the Bangles and Prince directly collaborated on a recording.

.

The contents and nature of what was recorded during this 'jam session' are not known.

.

Prince was said to have been in an unusually jovial mood that evening.

Australian rocker Harts was invited by Prince to jam at Paisley Park in 2014. Here's his recounting of it:

Harts' two albums and EP/single releases are great, BTW. Definitely a good example of Prince reaching out to a completely unrelated artist.
